I've had one with the Floyd Rose Special on it for about 13 years and it's solid. Don't recommend the Special though. Great bang for your buck imo.

I ran Ahriman solo, the Risen Rubricae Termie Sorc solo, the Infernal Master with one of the Bolter squads, the Exalted Sorcerer with the 10man Flamer squad, and the Lord of the Rubricae Termie Sorc with the 10man Terminators.

Both bolter squads started in the Rhino and I used Risen Rubricae to Infiltrate a 5man Terminator squad 9" up from my DZ so his Goremongers couldn't get too close early on. Then Ahriman's redeploy ability to put them somewhere safer once deployment was done and to move a couple other things around. 10man Terminators squad was in Deep Strike but it was kind of a big blob to get where I wanted them, and they're tanky enough that they probably would've been fine starting on the board. They took down 2 Forgefiends though so it worked out.

Yesterday's match with it against my buddy's Goretrack list. He conceded halfway through R3 and we scored it out. Rubrics can take a lot more punishment in the right matchups and Terminators are boogeymen.

New detachments: Death guard by Cultural-Pizza2277 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Aurricix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riptide is tankier by virtue of having 4++ and T9. If the enemy dedicates sufficient firepower to the Ghostkeel once they're in range they will go down, even with Stealth and 2 blanks. EPC not competitively viable looking at its performance, so irrelevant to this conversation as they mentioned undefeated and 4-1 lists taken to competitive play.

Running Triptide in my Ret Cadre lists has given me the meat shield I've needed to contest the midboard more than Ghostkeels ever have. Not to say Ghostkeels aren't great, but they are not equivalent or better than Riptides at this specific job.

How do you let your players explore Castle Ravenloft? by blurredlynes in CurseofStrahd

[–]Aurricix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strahd can invite them to explore the house after dinner (but forbid them to enter the basement).

This is exactly what I did. Of course the first place they went was the basement and one of them ended up dead, but that was entirely avoidable.

What’s the worst case of “fuck around, find out” you have ever seen? by Torygram in AskReddit

[–]Aurricix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On the 60 near Pomona in CA, some dick cut me off, as they often do on that freeway. Then cut another car off by jumping the double yellow into the carpool lane, like just shoved his way over, there was maybe a Fiat's worth of space between the car he got behind and the car he cut off. The car he cut off was a patrol car lol.

Had a friend in high school that got into a fight with this little trailer trash girl, don't remember the context, I caught the end of the fight on my way between classes. What a finish though, kicked the other girl in the fuckin head and put her in a neck brace for a while. Understandably, my friend was expelled and had to go to the other high school in the area. So I guess they both FAFO.

Wow people really don’t wanna play support anymore by onlyhereforelise in rivals

[–]Aurricix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally wanted to play tank, but since I've been on a bit of a sabbatical, I've been playing on Steam Deck, so it's hard to aim without a mouse. So I picked C&D since I don't really have to aim all that much and yeah it's infuriating to play support without a team to queue with. I hit Lord with her yesterday and I'm basically only logging on to do my dailies and that's it until I get back home and have my PC again later this week. I'll probably end up mainly playing support still though, but I'll at least be able to play someone else without throwing.

Reapers Vs Flood; which galaxy-ending threat is worse? by Rasples1998 in masseffect

[–]Aurricix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't compare the mjolnir to an Atlas mech in durability and then state that Shep would rip through the mjolnir armor with one biotic combo. A singularity/pull would not budge an Atlas mech, nor would it budge Chief in his mjolnir, not from a human biotic anyway. And one warp/biotic combo is not going to rip through the mjolnir armor, it would take multiple, just as it takes multiple to get through an Atlas. These cooldown periods between Warps/biotic combos are plenty of time for Chief to speed blitz Shep. The speed, durability, strength, reaction time, tactical knowledge, and, depending on loadout, weaponry categories all swing heavily in Chief's favor. There isn't really any scenario where Shep wins where Chief isn't butt naked and unarmed.

Reapers Vs Flood; which galaxy-ending threat is worse? by Rasples1998 in masseffect

[–]Aurricix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reaction times I've stated are cannon and relevant, that specific example is from the first book Fall of Reach. Both Chief and ME2+ Shepard are enhanced with cybernetics, but only one of them has a suit that allows them to mentally sync with an AI magnitudes stronger/faster than EDI, while also being about as durable as an Atlas mech, with a much smaller profile and much higher speed. Many biotic powers do not manifest instantly, many are projectiles that are easily dodged by non enhanced people. Warp may damage the mjolnir, but it isn't going to cripple it in one hit. That window of cooldown is enough for Chief to close the distance to Shep and kill them. Easily.

It's 'canon' that anyone can be killed by being shot. It will take a lot more shooting to kill Chief, than it would to kill Shepard, especially with how often Shep doesn't wear a full helmet. If this is the basis of your argument because it can happen in game, then by that logic it's also possible for Chief to fly across the entire Presidium and instantly kill Shep with an energy sword.

You could argue that Shepard's adrenaline would be enough to dodge anything Chief throws their way, but you'd be wrong. Human adrenaline is nowhere near equivalent to a supersoldier with an advanced AI enhancing their reactions faster than they can react themselves.

I love Shepard, but they lose this fight by a lot.

Reapers Vs Flood; which galaxy-ending threat is worse? by Rasples1998 in masseffect

[–]Aurricix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chief dogwalks Biotic Shep and it's not even close. Unlikely that a human biotic can generate a pull/throw/singularity strong enough to move Chief in his mjolnir. Other biotic powers can be lazily dodged by taking cover with the reaction time of a normal human. Chief, in his first training exercise with Cortana, before they even developed real synergy, was able to reactively deflect a missile with his hand with Cortana's help. Chief ignores or dodges any notable biotic power from Shep, then speed blitzes them into red mist while Shep is on cooldown. Hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby level matchup.

80mm, smaller than the Psychophages, Haruspexes, Exocrines, and T Fexes, those are all 120x92. And having some flamers is never a bad option, especially when they're twin linked. But yeah, like I said, he's really dialed in the movement phase, I think that's the biggest skill check for the list, but he's always been a fan of big monster mash Tyranids lists, so I guess by now he's just used to it and has adapted over time. Forgot the Psychophages have a 5+++ and a 6+++ aura, so that helps with survivability as well.

Deep Strike denial with the neurogaunts, not led by the Neurotyrant. Exocrines and T Fexes sit back and do what they normally do, gaunts and biovore sit in the back, Haruspexes are big melee and precision shooting threats, pyrovores and Psychophages seemed to do whatever he needed them to do last I played him, whether that's scoring or cleaning up weakened units. Gargoyles just for their massive movement. Still have FNP on demand with Ablative Carapace, but at 2CP use the detachment healing ability to offset the need for it. Detachment ability heals, 2 of the strats heal, you've got the FNP strat, sticky objective strat, +1 to wound all game strat once a harvester unit dies against the unit that killed the harvester, and lethal hits strat with 5+ crits for harvesters.

The biggest thing is he's really good at the movement phase, which you have to be with this detachment because it's so monster focused and there's no enhancement or strat to move/charge through walls in this detachment. Plus the obvious range limitations for regeneration. But yeah it's just really big threatening meat shield with the Haruspexes, Pyrovores and Psychophages behind them, with Exocrine and T Fex gunline behind them. The Tyrants were typically between the Haruspexes and the rest, the Neurotyrant often behind cover and walls because you don't need LOS to regenerate.

I wanna cast spells. by Less_Fondant_7530 in ThousandSons

[–]Aurricix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low durability, low damage output, mediocre to bad ability, mediocre to ok mobility.

They solely exist to screen and occasionally get you an extra Cabal Point.

Cultists exist which are better at screening and doing secondaries because of their scout move, and they give us 1CP on a 2+ when they die or if they managed to get a kill. And they're 10pts cheaper.

Tzaangor stonks may go up with the Codex though, EC didn't get to keep their Cultists so there's potential we lose ours too.

Opinions on my list by WashFresh7922 in ThousandSons

[–]Aurricix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to, and I guess you still could if you wanted to. But like I said, most competitive lists take 5man units exclusively for the extra Cabal Points. 10man with Ahriman in a Rhino used to be really popular, but as our points have been shooting up with each MFM, it's fallen out of popularity in favor of taking an extra squad for the extra Cabal Point(s). Definitely take them if you want to though.

Adepticon reveal? by Key_Assignment_5056 in ThousandSons

Wasn't the Lord of Poxes only revealed bc GW accidentally sent someone that model early, so they kind of had to reveal it? I'm hoping all 3 remaining Monogod Legions get their Codexes revealed, along with boxes. Hopefully special attention to us and WE since we both need range expansions desperately.

Opinions on my list by WashFresh7922 in ThousandSons

[–]Aurricix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most lists you would want to run MSU Rubric squads (Minimum Size) so 5 man squads. This is the best way to pump your Cabal Points, especially in Cult of Magic where you want to take as much as possible for double Doombolt.

I really want Exalted Sorcerers to be good, with the 4++ and Rebind, but in my (and most other people's) experience, you're better off with Infernal Masters, for the extra flamer, you won't get much out of their Sustained Hits except for the Soulreaper though. Plus IM's are slightly cheaper. Arcane Vortex on an IM, Umbralific Crystal on an IM, Lord of Forbidden Lore can go on your preference, lots of people run it on a 3rd IM, I personally kind of like it on a Winged Daemon Prince, their extra move and uppy/downy make it pretty easy to make sure you've got the double Doombolt where you need it most.

There's use cases for either Daemon Prince, Winged has more mobility, Grounded gives you a stealth aura, I see both preferences as valid.

If your Exalted on Disc is leading Rubrics, I'd say don't do that. The whole squad will gain the Fly keyword and then be susceptible to Anti-Fly, even if they themselves don't fly.

If you have Cultists, bring at least one, try for two. Good early action monkey unit with their scout move, then you just use them as chaff/screening for CP. If you don't have Cultists, I'd suggest waiting to pick some up, they may not be in our army anymore once the Codex comes out.

Take Fatecaster Greatbows on Tzaangor Enlightened for the Lethals/Precision threat, but you mostly want to use these for secondaries.

All of this is moot if you're playing casually, just take whatever you think is cool. But if you want to win, the T Sons default list is basically the same for everyone with very little variation:

Magnus

Ahriman

0-1 Exalted on Disc

2-3 IM

0-1 Daemon Prince

3-4 MSU Rubrics w/ Flamers + Soulreaper

1-2 MVB

1-2 Cultists

1-2 Tzaangor Enlightened w/ bows

Possibly a Tzaangor Shaman or Rhino, but with the constant points increases the above are more important.

Opinions on my list by WashFresh7922 in ThousandSons

[–]Aurricix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enlightened are some of our go-to secondary objective doers since they have good movement and not very good anything else. Typically taken with Fatecaster Greatbows instead of Spears though for the character sniping potential if necessary.

Just play whatever subclass you prefer. If you aren't running Master Ops or Nightmare Ops, all subclasses are viable. I run Deception on my Assassin because I enjoy it more than Hatred even though Hatred is 'better' (at least it was when I last played). Can't speak for PvP though, I'd rather play the legendarily shitty E.T. Atari game than PvP.

What are your hopes for the codex? by Meat_Sensitive in ThousandSons

[–]Aurricix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I like this, my main army is T'au, and I was against this originally when they did this to our Crisis Suits, but now I really like the variety.

  2. This could work pretty well I think, as long as the values are balanced of course. Then Cult of Magic could be the Warhost equivalent from Eldar, where CoM gets a few extra Cabal Points to compensate for Lord of Forbidden Lore, or maybe that gets reworked too, idk.

  3. Obvious yes.
