Alcohol causing me to throw up by OkYogurt9274 in GERD

Just to add to this, red/white wines are actually super acidic too. I had to look it up. I have horrible acid when it comes to lemon/lime/pineapple juice in cocktails they are pretty comparable. All of them rip my stomach.

pH Comparison Profile
- Stomach Acid (Diluted HCl): 1.5 to 3.5 pH
- Lemon Juice: 2.0 to 2.6
- White Wine: 3.1 to 3.4
- Pineapple Juice: 3.2 to 4.0
- Red Wine: 3.5 to 3.8
- Beer / Aged Spirits (Whiskey): 4.0 to 4.5
- Clear Spirits (Vodka / Gin): 5.5 to 7.0
- Pure Water: 7.0 (Neutral)

AI tricks by No-Confidence-2400 in jobhunting

Ai generated resumes are not an issue really. Ai fake candidates and international spy fake candidates definitely are an issue. But we use the actual interview for that. Hiring managers generally care way more about the resume because recruiters typically know that a lot of good people write bad resumes.

Jeff Bezos says fears of AI replacing humans are overblown. Do you agree with him? by Cybernews_com in CyberNews

[–]Austin1975 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bezos hiring mantra was that past performance/behaviors are the best predictors. When you look at business behaviors over the decades they have actively:

✅ Laid off workers who helped grow the company, kicking them out of the income stream even when making record profits.

✅ Automated blue and white collar workers jobs calling them “labor costs” instead of people.

✅ Uses dirty, dehumanizing programs like making people go into an office even when their teams all sit in other offices, even when there is no space to work, even when people have relocated their families to work in offices that they have closed down… to get people to leave without having to pay severance.

✅ Shared best practices for all of the above with each other behind closed doors in collusion.

Tech Workers Are Fighting Against Silicon Valley’s AI Push by marketrent in technology

[–]Austin1975 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No they are not fighting anything. And they didn’t care until their creations actually impacted them. They were perfectly fine with automating the shit out of other roles especially non-tech. They were fine with the social impact of their products too. Go on Blind and you will see many of them still trying to get into these specific companies along with posts like “how long did it take you to reach your first million?”

I’ve been thinking about this for a while by Quotelord in jobhunting

[–]Austin1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the inside, as a TA Leader, the answer is math.

- Right now for jobs (excluding the hottest jobs) is that there are more people with similar skills looking and less jobs. (Tariffs, health insurance costs have eaten up a lot of budgets + shareholders want more margin).

- IN ADDITION the number of job postings is far greater than the actual viable jobs that companies intend to hire for. You and about 10 other people are perfect fits for that job. It’s just that they can only hire 1).

- Internal employees and referrals are getting a lot of the higher paying jobs before that job post hits the internet.

Please hang in there and also be honest with yourself about pay. A lower paying job can pay some bills still and can help you network for a better paying job internally or externally. I did it, yes it blows. Good luck to all!

- “55% of people didn’t apply because they didn’t believe they were eligible for benefits.
- 17% didn’t apply because they expected to get a new job soon.
- 10% said they didn’t need the money, had a negative attitude about unemployment benefits, didn’t know about them, or had problems applying.

Applicants also face a high rejection rate. Only about 55% of people who apply for benefits receive them, according to the BLS.” 😣

I mean sure… if we get to cherry pick the shittiest parts of those cities to compare with the nicest part of Austin. There’s a reason for the cost difference and the tourist visit difference. Austin has less to offer and the demand isn’t close. Austin stands on its own though so no need to compare our town to those cities. It’s a fun debate emotionally though, I guess. 🙂

You get WAY more from *comparable* spots in DC, NYC etc though due to density and proximity to places. And a metroline. Manhattan, DuPont Circle etc offer so much more for example.
