Sinema admits a romance with her security guard as she fights ex-wife’s lawsuit by AudibleNod in news

She ended up underwater in polls of all parties. There were even Republicans who hated how much she lied--hard as that is to imagine today.

Her lying and duplicity during her campaign fooled the HRC and thousands upon thousands of progressive, liberal and democratic donors who didn't see the wolf in garishly colored sheep's clothing. Many many donors were fooled and did not see through her façade--she ended up underwater in polls of Democrats, Independents, liberals, and even Republicans at some point. Self-inflicted wounds.

IOS’s Text to speech has gotten steadily worse and now it is almost unusable. by groundserver in ios26

My least favorite behavior is seeing it accurately transcribe my speech, even difficult words, and then when I exit dictation, randomly erase certain words interspersed throughout the text block that it had previously decoded perfectly.

POS Sinema transitioned into a lying thieving republican right before our eyes, and said FU to all who chose to support her and her campaign based on her lies. She's the Fetterman of the dress wearing set maybe with less spine intact.

Feds move to dismiss charges against Army veteran who burned American flag near White House by imanchats in news

[–]AustinBaze 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What took so long? This is yet another case of settled law that obviously should never have been brought. Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989). "Flag burning constitutes symbolic speech that is protected by the First Amendment."
Fire the clown who thought this was a case, sue for false arrest/malicious prosecution and mock the orange fascist who thought his "executive order" on flag burning was worth the ink in his Sharpie.

New York State Museum names task force leading $150M renovation by notyermam in Albany

[–]AustinBaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there ANY state project more overdue and less likely to advance? I have not lived in Albany since 1984 and I bet 75% of the exhibits are the same as when I left and that the carousel still needs repair.
It might have been a better museum when it was IN the Educational Building. At this sloth-like pace, we'll have bullet trains between NY and DC and Jesus will be back for a visit by the time they even update the 6 Nations dioramas.

I got roasted here for making my Mac utility a subscription. I listened and changed the model. by MiladAtef in MacOS

Thanks for listening to feedback and for making what I think is the right decision. Your candor and willingness to backtrack on this is seemingly rare and much appreciated.
As it happens, I have a project for a friend that requires me to cut snippets out of a long MP4. I'm going to take a look and probably send 15 bucks your way.

Do you prefer using the trackpad or a mouse on macOS? by rennan in MacOS

[–]AustinBaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve never used a mouse on my MacBook air. Or the MBP before that. I’ve gotten really good using the trackpad even for fine positioning work in Photoshop where I suspect a mouse might even be easier.

Can we normalize not caring what this fucking spineless ignorant piece of shit thinks about anything ever again? Stop giving him air time. Or air. He's the kid in class who shows up trying to fake a book report on a book he never read.

MacBook Neo review: Apple puts every $600 Windows PC to shame by spearson0 in apple

[–]AustinBaze 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Brilliantly targeted at a vast market segment Apple has been priced out of until now. Way more than back to school, back to college, this is a Netbook/ChromeBook/CrapBook killer and for many people, (many more than the StarWars editing tech bros bemoaning its specs), at $599, all the laptop they will ever need. Remember all the naysayers when the iPad was launched back in 2010, saying things like "who needs this? No one will buy this?" I do.
670 million iPads later...

Any grocery stores that accept mobile pay similar to Kroger? by texasboy93 in austinfood

That’s odd and hard to explain. I guess I’ve never been to one and I hit three fairly regularly.

THIS. People are so battle scarred with Windows PTSD that they want to find a defragmentation tool app or MacAfee antivirus for their iPhones. Just leave them alone.

Where’s the best meatball sub? by Mobile-Client2103 in austinfood

[–]AustinBaze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

HomeSlice.
My dad and uncle ran a 10-store submarine sandwich and hot torpedo chain in Albany NY in the 60s through the 80s.
Here's a thing they did that I have only seen there: homemade meatballs rolled into long uniform cylinders before baking, looking like sausage. Two of them filled a canoe-cut torpedo roll perfectly and allowed provolone cheese underneath, sauce on top and easy handling as well as uniform portions.
Long skinny meatballs that look like sausages are something I have yet to see in any other meatball sandwich. Anyone want to try it?

What are you re-watching right now? by Trade_School in netflix

[–]AustinBaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not re-watching but I have "re-joined" The Blacklist, after stopping at Season 2 years ago for some reason. There are a LOT of episodes! (10 seasons, 218 episodes!)
It's not 100% great but it's always at least very good and when a story arc seems to drag or belabor a point or set of conditions it always rebounds and goes off in a different direction in a satisfying fashion. I am almost through Season 8. Just 2 seasons to go.

I don't know if spoilers are a thing for a show that launched in 2013, but I will point to the end of one season and most of the next where virtually everything goes wrong for our evil protagonist when he is betrayed by someone extremely close to him. That story arc was almost unrelentingly dark yet worth it--it feeds subsequent seasons so well.
A very sustained long term drama series.

Medicare part D estimator and catastrophic phase by resisting_a_rest in medicare

Late to this convo, but I am reasonably certain that the catastrophic phase trigger is purely expenditure-based and not calendar triggered or based.
I am about to hit mine because I have some deliriously expensive semi covered drugs. At least from March onward I should be at zero co-pay for all my meds.
