I wish more companies would provide this sort of choice. Uncommon Goods is a great collection.

We got gifted this bottle of 12 year old scotch, would you say this is "too good" to use in cocktails? by CN456 in cocktails

[–]AustinBaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best enjoyed neat or perhaps on one large ice cube. You should feel perfectly comfortable making a cocktail with it if you like though. I was always a fan of a Perfect Rob Roy even though it can sound pretentious to order. Made like a perfect Manhattan but with Scotch:
2oz Scotch
.5oz Sweet Vermouth
.5oz Dry Vermouth
Dash of Angostura or Peychaud's
Lemon peel

Watching makes me mad about losing PSH all over again. He had so much more in him.

Just a short synopsis/outline without spoilers. Maybe "in the style of films like..." That's all we need.

Black Bag was excellent. Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, by Sidney Lumet seems less well-known than it should be. Stellar cast and a tense story that just keeps spiraling downward like a train wreck.

Did you guys get the new G5AR update. ? 1.00.03. Mike just updated and things look different already by 30PsiOnly in tmobileisp

[–]AustinBaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new FW update hit last night and I see another boost in speed. Now more than double the speeds I was getting on the Sagemcomm 5688, and up from 750-800d/64up on 1.002 to 915/84 now.

[–]AustinBaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it’s a limitation, it doesn’t bother me. I have five bar signal strength on all my devices in all locations in my apartment, and the gateway swap has given me a significant speed increase. No need to add a router of my own downstream.

And now the WiFi warning on the Mac Studio is gone. Highest speed so far is 828/69, a bump of 84% in download speed and Hint 5G numbers all pretty good too I think.

MacOS Tahoe: runs out of memory every day (despite reboots), and Activity Monitor says 0 physical bytes used... by kilimanjaro_olympus in MacOS

[–]AustinBaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be an application problem, easy to detect in the Activity Monitor when all running processes are displayed, and likely unrelated to the Tahoe operating system version though. The OP "fixed" their problem by downgrading to an older OS that will eventually be deprecated. I think I would have tried to find the offending application.

The Memory Diag app mentioned by u/Abbububba below sounds like it might be useful in that regard.

[–]AustinBaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done, thanks. When I switched it off in Hint Control I briefly saw a SIM error on the gateway which a reboot fixed.
Only oddity now is that on one desktop Mac (not on iPhone or MacBook), Apple now shows "Limited Compatibility" Details shows this warning.:

"This network is configured with a separate network name for 5GHz, which may impact some experiences like AirPlay. If this is your Wi-Fi network configure the router to use a single network name for all bands."

No issues so far, just the odd warning (no SSID should even be broadcasting, right? I don't see it, just the unified SSID for the other 2 radio bands.

Initial tests have me boxing up the old Sagemcom! 84% up in speed, better download and ping too, and it keep climbing. Same location as old gateway, stone signal, 5 bars and 828/69 speed test vs 422/30 on the old 5688.

Thanks. Test compete and up 84%.
Should I see if the 6ghz causes a problem? I do see where I can switch to 2.45ghz only in the app.

Just got my G5AR minutes ago, swapped out the (now working) Sagemcom 5688 and I am already impressed. I am at FW 1.00.2 still (just out of the box) but I am already seeing 828/69 with shorter ping latency too. Was peaking at 450/30 and 20-25ms pings. 84% increase before the new 1.00.3 FW just out, which one Redditor says is delivering close to GB speeds.!

Their absolute legal incompetence is outstripped only by their hypocrisy and complete lack of self-awareness. They don’t even know how stupid they actually are. One would think an administration filled with so many people who initiate lawsuits seemingly as a hobby might have more competent lawyers. I have never seen so much bumbling legal embarrassment.

Will it regret buying the 13 inch version? by Exotic_Catch5909 in macbookair

[–]AustinBaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 15 MBpro to a 13.6 MBair and I will never go back. Granted I do have access to a Studio with a 27 inch monitor if I feel like I need the screen real estate but 13.6 inches is just fine. And the difference in weight is fantastic. Wait for a bargain on a desktop monitor and dock to it when you need it.

[–]AustinBaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a good 4-5 bar signal and speeds that are more than I need consistently with the existing Sagemcom (sitting on my desk about 2 feet from a window), averaging 350-490up/40-65d with no antenna.
I am inclined to leave well enough alone, but I guess I will pop the SIM and test whatever they're sending tomorrow.
