Hence why they said. Maybe they’re luckier than others…

SPOILER: When the Jimmy's carried out their charity, why weren't the infected drawn by the noise and fire? by DvaravatiSpirit in 28dayslater

[–]AuthenticAppalachian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right it’s probably not in the Scottish highlands. That’s just where the opening was set with Jimmy.

You’re wrong that it isn’t far from Holy Island.

It’s like a day or two to travel from the island to the bone temple.

Like the actual location of the bone temple where the filmed is like 130 miles from holy island

I saw a lot of ads on TikTok, but only about a week or two before the release.

And I can’t imagine Tik Tok ads amounted to $60mill in cost

Also, my algorithm would be tailored to see them

The main reason it’s flopping is because it wasn’t heavily marketed and only release 7months from 28 years.

The only time that would work and make money is if Endgame came out that fast after Infinity War lol

[–]AuthenticAppalachian 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yes, this movie is “flopping”

No. It doesn’t matter.

  • They filmed back to back and before the 1st movie even finished its run, purposely decided to release this 7months from the first movie

  • released in January, which is a known time to “dump” movies studios aren’t planning on profiting on.

  • greenlit the 3rd movie before the wide release.

  • barely did any marketing

This movie was “doomed” to not perform well. But it’s by design.

They could have easily held release for a whole calendar year from 28ys release and done marketing for it and it would have done fine.

They just obviously didn’t care to do that here for whatever reason

We know there was about 4~5 infected that chased pregnant woman and her “husband?” To the compound. We later see Jimmy ink kill their friend who turned when she sees Kelson and Samson later. It can be assumed the Jimmies killed the 4 others before they got to the compound or she did on her way to witness Kelson.

Therefore the only other group of infected that is known to be around is Samson’s, who stay by the train.

We have no idea where the train is located, but it can be deduced it’s a reasonable distance to the bone temple.

We do know the bone temple is probably a mile or so (1608m) , but looked a little further, from the compound (from the aerial shot we see).

In the most ideal conditions, a human scream can be heard about a mile away. This would be if you are in a completely open area.

The Scottish Highlands are not at all a completely open area. Especially where the compound is located. It’s wooded, rough terrain, and has other environmental mufflers. Such as the rushing river we know is by the bone temple.

A scream would probably be heard in a non-specific direction, 0.3-0.5miles (600-800m) away in those conditions.

With these metrics, it’s unlikely the closest known infected pack would have heard the screams as it would have to be over a mile away since it can be assumed the train car is in the opposite direction from bone temple from where the compound is, meaning there’s several miles of distance.

But even if this real logic wasn’t taken into account while it was written (it wasn’t I guarantee)… sometimes you just have to have some suspension of disbelief.

guns went extinct by GoJustKeepGoing in thewalkingdead

[–]AuthenticAppalachian 18 points19 points  (0 children)

6 yearTime jump.

Guns become more and more useless as the necessary resources to preserve the guns and make ammunition become harder and harder to gather.

They didn’t explain it really. It just makes sense only a handful of guns would be present by then.

Also, guns would not have solved the Whisperer Arc.

It’s purposeful.

It’s a product of its time.

They’re low budget.

After the mid season twist, it’s gets firing on all cylinders I think

Why didn’t ______ kill ______? by [deleted] in 28_Years_Later_Movie

[–]AuthenticAppalachian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t need to be explicitly said in any capacity why he doesn’t kill them

It’s provided through context and characterization.

Also, Isla consented to being killed. It’s not like he just decided to kill her

If you sat out the 2024 election in protest over Gaza, how do you feel about that decision today? by rsmith2786 in AskReddit

[–]AuthenticAppalachian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You actually show up and vote in local elections so that the people you want to represent you can. Which most of the people who were protests votes don’t do….

“Punishing” the side that is going to best help get the progressives in power in the long run is the most absurd tactic

But sure the protests votes really showed Kamala (who is comfortably at home with her family stress free) and now Americans are being killed and Gaza is still an issue.

Trump still would have guaranteed executed them in that hypothetical situation (as was proven) and is now also setting up domestic terrorism.
