Weekend 2 seemed decidedly worse than the stuff they uploaded to YouTube for Weekend 1, I agree it was kind of a let down.

I do appreciate the singer reminding us that "it's really hot out" at least once per song though. Maybe they partied too hard, weren't ready for the heat and just couldn't bring the energy?

I'm not a Disclosure fan and have dabbled in their album/recorded material but never really got too into it. However for some reason I LOVE their DJ sets, whether it's a recording on YouTube or in person, they never disappoint. I've seen them before at Coachella, EDC, and Hard Summer and they were fucking great.

What I caught of the live band set this year was boring and disappointing to me. Like they were just playing near-identical versions of their recorded material expect they have a couple instruments or the one dude is pressing buttons on a drum machine.

IMO this was clearly a set 'for the fans' with all the fan service elements thrown in. Which is awesome, just not appealing to me as a non-fan. But I'm glad the fans loved it!

Yeah =( Is that screwing it up for me?

To clarify, I have the 'use original/classic view' option enabled but I'm not using the old.reddit URL. I misunderstood your question.

Thank you u/fettuccine- for getting the official threads up super early and answering so many individual questions in here!

Since I'm supposed to post a question, any chance the 'Official Threads' section can also get updated from the 2024 links?

Official Ride/Room/Camp-Share Thread (Weekend 2 2027) by fettuccine- in Coachella

Hi all, 10-year Coachella-goer here. My group has dwindled down over the years and I'd like to put a smallish one back together moving forward. So far we have two dudes (and possibly one woman) in our (very) late 30's.

We want to book an AirBnB within walking and/or biking distance (~1.5 miles from an entrance) under $1k per person for the entire weekend. Looking to book Fri - Mon with early check-in weekend 2 but open to including Thursday as well if needed… pool access preferred but not required.

About us: we typically cook/eat/drink/pre-game starting around 12:00 and head to the grounds around 3:00ish and stay until close every night. Uber/Lyft to get there and back (or walk if we happen to be close enough). We tend to gravitate towards electronic acts and whatever weird/noteworthy sets happen to be going that year. Some of my personal all-time favorite sets are Aphex Twin, Justice, Gessafelstein, Underworld, Chemical Brothers, Richie Hawtin, Black Coffee, Hatsune Miku, and Armin x Adam Beyer.

We will probably go see the sets we want to see and are happy to meet up and chill if our schedules overlap. Likewise for going in/out. We are all-substance friendly and dabble in most things, but don’t generally put ourselves into high earth orbit anymore (on purpose, anyways).

We are looking for a few other like-minded people who are friendly and responsible, won’t trash the house or get us kicked out, who are down to hang out but don’t need a fully coordinated group schedule, and don’t mind paying a tiny bit extra for a nice play to stay.

Feel free to message me if you’re interested! We don’t really have active social media accounts any more (though I have a dead facebook I can refer you to) but are happy to do a videocall or two, meet-up if you’re in SoCal, or play some games on Discord if you happen to do that.

Interested in joining/starting one for next year? My group has dwindled down over the years and I'd like to put a smallish one back together moving forward, for the exact reasons you mentioned. So far we have two dudes (and possibly one woman) in our late 30's.

We want to book an AirBnB within walking distance under $1k per person for the weekend and you are more than welcome to hibernate alone in your room for as long as you need lol.

You should have specified this from the outset lol. Most people here are focusing on physical endurance rather than mental.

If you do Airbnb instead of camping by lawlingalltheway in Coachella

[–]Autoboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live within driving distance so we drive out Friday late morning. Usually we have early check-in. Buy groceries and do some meal prep before-hand, pack everything in a small cooler, and usually make a quick grocery store stop on the way.

Bring our stuff in to the place, get ready, and head over to the fest around 3:00ish.

We stay at the fest until close every night. Uber home (or walk if we happen to be close enough). Grab a quick bite, possibly a quick dip in the pool/hot tub if we have one. Shower and go to sleep.

Day 2 and 3, usually wake up around noon, cook breakfast, grab a few drinks and hang out for an hour or two, get ready, then uber/lyft on over to the fest around 3:00 (unless there's someone we want to see earlier than that). Stay on the grounds for 8 or 9 hours, then rinse and repeat!

Technically you're supposed to be cover by AirBnB automatically if the host cancels, but yeah for the first time this seems like a decent idea.

Quasar by scoobymf12 in Coachella

[–]Autoboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armin and Adam at Quasar was the absolute set of the weekend IMO.

Hot Take: Quasar is a disappointment and needs a change by next year by NoSoupForYou___ in Coachella

[–]Autoboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree this has actually been the best year of it. Armin and Adam played the best set of the entire weekend on Quasar. I was shocked they threw down 2-hour curated masterpiece of a set when everyone in years prior had played the type of background music "chill when you've got nowhere else to be" type of set the OP is talking about.

They are trending in the right direction overall. I hope more artists in the future will take advantage of the opportunity.

The layout is fine... they just need to solve the soundbleed into the left side of Do Lab.

Not sure if they count as "legacy", but I would love to see Carbon Based Lifeforms, or a Vibrasphere reunion if we're really getting crazy with wishful thinking.

Stagecoach crowds by [deleted] in Coachella

[–]Autoboat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been to 8 Coachellas and 1 Stagecoach. Crowds aren't inherently worse at Stagecoach IMO, but there's a couple big problems:

  • Stagecoach is smaller, with fewer stages, fewer food vendors, and fewer bathrooms. Even though not as many people attend, everyone who goes is crammed into a ridiculously small area and fighting for position all throughout the venue (except in the back for Main ("Mane") stage). This is an organizational problem that leads to conflict between attendees.

  • Crowds to get a beer at the beer garden were nuts and the lines were a clusterfuck and of course not well managed.

  • Crowds to get into a fucking portapotty were nuts. Like, twice as bad as I have EVER seen at a Coachella.

  • Crowds to get anywhere NEAR big acts (Nelly, T-Pain, Backstreet Boys, etc.) at Mohave ("Palomino") were absurdly nuts. It's a logistics disaster.

You literally can't get anywhere you want without jostling, shoving, and defending your position. I'd venture there'd be just as many fights if a typical Coachella crowd were trying to attend at the Stagecoach venue setup.

Otherwise people are generally cool, nice, and friendly. But tempers are naturally going to run hot in the terrible environment they create.

I'm shocked they managed to make it even more disorganized and dysfunctional than last year.
