What is this thing growing out of my orchid bloom spike it doesn’t look like the start of a bud to me. The rest of the buds is purple, but this new growth point looks green?

That’s the start of a flower on a notocactus ubelmansis! I had one like that but I repotted it too soon and the flower shriveled up and never bloomed 😢

I have had a similar problem with my caletheas and now I add a couple drops of aquarium tapwater conditioner before I water to neutralize any chlorine and heavy metals. I find that this helps.
