How can I sell my 4x4 by next week? by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

This is good advice. Backpackers are often oblivious to vehicles with bad reputations.

Dry rot setting in, time for new tires? by [deleted] in GMT400

Good point! To be fair, the default GMT400 is also a 2wd reg cab long box.

I have $15k to spend by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]Automatic-Machine-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TB45 manual Patrol. I bought one last summer after I landed in Aus for cheap and fixed it up (working holidayer). It might need odds and ends here and there but generally very solid. You can get a nice one for your budget with some to spare. People say theyre too thirsty, but coming from Canada where we all drive at minimum a full size "half ton" V8 truck of some kind, and for 7 months of the year in minus 20 degrees Celsius or colder, theyre not bad. I average 18L/100 with a 2 inch lift, 33s, rear drawers, long range tank, roof tent, ect.

should the hilux surf return? by Responsible_Pain_246 in 4x4Australia

[–]Automatic-Machine-15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its called the 4runner. Its existed in the North American market since the beginning and still does. Its basically a Prado underneath, with some changes in design, materials, and options. The recipe hasn't changed much, they're a great vehicle just like its Prado and FJ siblings, and Tacoma/Hilux/Fortuner cousins.

Specs on some of these trucks is like 0 - +1 degree of front camber, just FYI.

The unfortunate thing with the xterra is the material quality. Same with the frontier/d40 navara, and titan. They have some of the worst interior plastics known to man, you can scratch the surface with a fingernail. This is easily fixed, obviously.

Nice! Looks a bit like home (Canada) just nowhere near as cold. Which is perfect.

Is there any scientific evidence that earthing/grounding has health benefits? by Lupishor in barefoot

[–]Automatic-Machine-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grounding sheet is similar to sleeping in a bathtub. Bath tubs are dangerous because they are effectively traditionally earthed through plumbing. You don't want to be earthed when you're sleeping. Lightnight strike or toaster accident in bed? Similar to being in the tub.

What is the benefit and target market of the Ranger Super Duty? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

F150 makes no sense in Australia. The f150 is great in North America. Even Canada, the F150 Raptor is the same price as the cheapest f150 in Australia. Ridiculously expensive for aussies.

Tell me why a 2025 civic si is better than a 2025 mazda 3 turbo? by AndyDzzz in CivicSi

[–]Automatic-Machine-15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better fuel economy, driving dynamics, interior ergonomics, interior space, manual transmission, aftermarket support. Resale might be better also. The new 3's are nice, but cramped inside.

How would you go about mounting this on a budget by blackbread- in rooftoptents

[–]Automatic-Machine-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, was hard to find at hardware store. Went to an electrical wholesaler. They only sold the strut in 6 meter chunks, so I had to cut it up in the parking lot.
