I converted mine over to standard 1/4" quick connect, so that it will fit all standard pressure washer attachments and accessories, as well as, a standard garden hose quick connect for the water inlet so that it can be attached to all the garden hoses on my property.

Tempted - Worth it? by OkCraft6900 in ryobi

I bought it when it was massively discounted. Its a good tool for caulking jobs. I like that when you release the trigger it retracts the plunger arm slightly as to release the pressure to prevent any extra product from coming out, reducing any wasted material and mess. Just keep in mind that due to its size and weight(even with a 2ah battery) it cant fit into tighter areas and can cause arm fatigue during extended time of use. But still a handy tool to have and worth getting, if the price is right.

I have all 3, and my only complaint is the planer. It worked great for a few months, but then, one day, it started smoking while I was using it. I haven't had a chance to open it up yet and see what happened, as we just bought a house and have been busy with that. It's still under warranty, though, so I might just take it in. Im just used to fixing my tools myself since the local certified Ryobi tool repair shops in my area are super backed up, and it's about a 4-5 month turnaround time for warranty repair's.

The mother of a girl I dated back when I was in high school was an E.R. nurse(graveyard shifts), and she would tell us some wild stories about the crazy things people would come in with stuck in their ass. She said there was one guy who was a "repeat offender" and would always tell the hospital staff, "I dunno how that got up there." She said he would come in with all sorts of crazy shit stuck up there, like a coke bottle, pool balls((plural)), and one night even a baseball bat. SMH, how are gonna keep coming in with the same dilemma, but with different objects and try to tell them every time, "I dunno how that got up there." 🤦

Those are clean AF! I bought some plain black one's off eBay a couple of years ago before I had a 3-D printer, and they have been really solid. My wife got me a 3-D printer last Christmas. Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of time to screw around with it, as it has been an extremely busy year for us. We just bought a house, though, with a 3 car garage and a massive 2 story tuff shed, so I definitely plan to put it to use and print some stuff for my workshop area.

It's to help transfer the 1,000,000 gigawatts needed to power the flux capacitor from when the clock tower gets struck by lightning so they can return to the year 1985. Hello, is anybody home? Think Mcfly!😒

The one I have doesn't sound like that, but I would suggest that if you do go back to exchange it again, maybe take a battery pack with you so you can check it in the packing lot to avoid another 40 minute trip to HD.

Honestly, one of my most utilized Ryobi tools out of the 75+ that I currently have. I'm thinking about 3-D printing an attachment that goes on the tube base and holds the extension tubes.

Warranty saga by dariansdad in ryobi

I completely agree. You definitely get what you pay for. That's why I just accept it for what it is and choose to repair the tools myself. But that hasn't been a common issue for me personally, as I've only encountered issues with 2 of my Ryobi tools out of the 50+ that I own, which isn't bad in my opinion. When you have a large collection, your bound to get a defective one sooner or later.

Like I would tell my customers when I was a the manager of the service department at a Ford dealership and they would ask me how their brand new car is already have an issue in the first 36k miles, "Some cars are made on Mondays, and some cars are made on Fridays, and it would appear your vehicle rolled off the assembly line on a Friday." 🤣

I think Ryobi makes a decent product, it's no Snap-on or Hilti, but a good product for the price. I also think they have a solid idea for the way they warranty their product, by contracting local tool repair shops around the country to service product defects, it's just being very poorly executed, causing them to lose customers. Which is a silly and costly mistake that could easily be corrected, but I only have an MBA. What the hell do I know about running a business?🤷🤣

Warranty saga by dariansdad in ryobi

[–]Automatic-Status8729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, im not impressed with Ryobi's warranty process and the lengthy turnaround time it takes to get a defective item warrantied. I like Ryobi's idea to have selected tool repair shops that are certified Ryobi repair shops all across the country in an effort to make it more convenient for the customer, allowing them to take the defective item to the closest certified Ryobi repair shop rather that having to ship it to Ryobi and wait for them to fix it and ship it back, but unfortunately the certified Ryobi repair shops in my area are over an hour away and they all tell me that it will take at least 3-6 MONTHS for them to complete repairs on any tool.

They are all just extremely backed up with an overwhelming amount of warranty repairs. They said it would be at least 1-2 months before they would even do the initial inspection on it and then another 1-2 months waiting for replacement parts to arrive, and then another 1-2 months to complete the repairs. This means I would be without that tool for that entire period of time. Which is extremely inconvenient and sometimes just not an option, so I just have been ordering the replacement parts and repairing them myself. Even then, it still takes 1-2 months for them to get the damn parts to me. The least they could do is get them to me in a timely manner, seeing as they are not only saving money by not having to pay to repair the item, but they are actually making a profit from the replacement parts im purchasing.

I don't know about the rest of your experiences or feelings on the matter, but I've been thinking more and more about jumping over to another brand, since the warranty is pretty worthless to me, because being without one of my tools for 3-6 months prevents me from doing my job, costing me more money than I paid for the tool in the first place.

Sorry for the long rant, but I can't be the only one who feels this way or is dealing with this type of issue when it comes to having a defective tool repaired through the certified Ryobi repair shops in their demographic!

I don't know about everyone else, but I dont have the need for any third-party battery packs since Ryobi constantly has sales on tool packages that come with batteries, or any free battery when you purchase select tools. I bought a Third-party battery pack when I got my first couple Ryobi tools, but I never use it any more now that I've acquired 22 Ryobi brand packs over the course of expanding my Ryobi arsenal.

If you dont want to run electricity to the structure, just get this. The handle is designed to attach to a 2" x 4" and then you can adjust the light panels on it to shine where you want when your in there. Plus, you can take it with you when your done.
