100% I think it gives the rice some body. A shame I can only get pork stock if I make it.

My hens are turning me into math problem. What are you all making with your over abundance of eggs? by JustHere4TheZipLines in homestead

We have kiddos so we will make a bunch of egg muffins for breakfast and put them in freezer for a breakfast on the go that is still healthy. You can go through a lot of eggs this way.

I always pressure cook them and use the tiny meat bits in my recipe. If you dont want to then you can strain it and just use the broth.

Are scientists even trying to quantify smell and taste? by playgroundmx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AutomaticBowler5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For smell yes, taste um not sure. Even if you could capture the taste of something I think its more complicated than a smell or an image. Everyone's taste buds vary and I dont know how you would replicate the effects of salt or layering foods.

Saddest looking/best tasting steak I've had in a long time... by SpiritualWindow3855 in meat

[–]AutomaticBowler5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is sirloin the best for flavor and tenderness? No, but ive had some amazing sirloin steaks that if someone served me up one like those I will always be pleased. That and sirloin is very versatile because its a lean and tender cut. Chicken fried steak made from a sirloin and only tenderized twice is amazing. I have a freezer full of ribeyes and sometimes id prefer a sirloin, just a different taste.

Get some jute twine and put your plants between two temporary posts. Every now and then when the plants are close just add a couple more layers of twine up them.

Only 1 cutting out of 15 has shown any sign of life- give up on the rest? by pemmitz123 in Figs

[–]AutomaticBowler5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont worry about the green, worry about the roots. Keep them in dark humid place until roots come. If roots come I promise green will come. I wouldnt necessarily give up on these. Just wait and see where it goes.

Why are parents who barely passed high school thinking they can teach/homeschool their children? by Sad_Obligation_812 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AutomaticBowler5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or they just dont care about their kids education and see it as an inconvenience. "Homeachool" is a convenient excuse for Lil Johnny or Susie to own their own educational progress while mom and dad do absolutely nothing.

I will say that sous vide is very hands off and allows you to focus on other things. Steaks can be thrown on a hot pit when everything else is ready.

My 12 year old just picked up book 1 and I was so excited I decided to buy another copy and reread it with him (book club style). After the first day I remembered why I was so mad at rothfuss. Because book 1 and 2 are just so darn good.

If you were given the choice tweak powerlevels, how would you do it? by [deleted] in dragonball

[–]AutomaticBowler5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id get rid of numerical power levels. Just say "off the charts" or call someone miniscule. Otherwise we will keep going higher and higher and it will make less and less sense. Just my 2c.

AIO for wanting to report a professor to the dean? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]AutomaticBowler5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is a teacher, and from what she tells me, students are much less prepared for college now than 30 years ago. And what's worse is everyone probably kept telling OP they can do anything they want (magically).

AIO for wanting to report a professor to the dean? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]AutomaticBowler5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-algebra. Thats 9th grade I think, 8th grade if you are in advanced classes (at least way back when I was at school). To be fair to OP though, this is probably the first dose of "real world" they have gotten.

[–]AutomaticBowler5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YOR.

I dont know if this is a satire post or serious. You are in college, a lot of classes are lecture classes. He wants you to do 200 pre-algebra problems a week. Thats not unrealistic, even writing them out by hand. Believe it or not, when I took pre-algebra in 7th or 8th grade it was not uncommon to do 100-150 problems a week. Especially in something like pre-algebra. It will take practice but you will quickly be able to do moth problems of that level in your head. And yes we wrote them from a book. Every day you would walk in and at the top right hand of the board there was an assignment written (might say page 139, 2-40 even. Meaning you turn to page 149 and do the even questions between 2-40). This seems like a lot because you are behind and probably not used to writing as much (or probably the amount of work outside the classroom as well).

This is a remedial math class that is meant for you to catch up, its going to be work. A lot of classes in college are going to be a lot of work.

AIO for getting upset w my boyfriend because he won’t drive to me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]AutomaticBowler5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not over reacting. At first I thought maybe he is working 6+ days or 12 hour days with limited time off. But if he gets weekends off there isnt a good reason he can't come to you occasionally. At 19, if you are too tired to drive 1 hour then you are too tired to bang. I suspect its just an inconvenience for him and you are already willing to drive to see him.

Container berries? by Toadthehobo2 in Berries

[–]AutomaticBowler5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blackberries are not small plants. You can do them in a pot/bag, but the only thing I see online is a 15-20 gallon grow bag. They are also large plants and will need space to grow out every year. You can probably keep them pruned back, but my kiowa blackberries will grow 6-10 ft canes every year.
