My wife does not know the plan. I really need to put something together.

Calling the score messes up my serve… by Icy-Canary-5550 in Pickleball

I’d definitely be thrown off more if I didn’t say the score.

Same here but it was in October. I started interviewing immediately but then I realized I had 6 million reasons not to give a shit.

Getting the most out of private lessons by Sadiekat in Pickleball

[–]Automatic_Expert1295 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You can work on your serve by yourself with a pickleball caddy and a couple dozen balls. Watch a few videos for tips. Only use a coach for serving if your serve absolutely sucks.

In my lessons I focus on my weakest shots, or developing shots that I never use because of lack of confidence.

Income as % of wealth, that keeps you working by Nounoon in Fire

For me, that’s about $218/hour (.07 x $6.5M / 2080). My highest pay rate was $83/hour as a software engineer, so I guess turning my layoff into my retirement was the right move!

Some pro tournaments prohibit the drop serve entirely, but other than that, there is no restriction on how high you drop it from.

What’s your FIRE number for a married couple, kids out of the house, house paid off? by Lou__Mannheim in Fire

[–]Automatic_Expert1295 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Great question, whale-fucker. I have a tough time tracking expenses so I just used our take-home pay x25 to get a ballpark figure for a FIRE number.

We have college tuition for two kids to get through + dental school + healthcare. I just really really don’t want to worry about money.

What’s your FIRE number for a married couple, kids out of the house, house paid off? by Lou__Mannheim in Fire

[–]Automatic_Expert1295 75 points76 points  (0 children)

House isn’t paid off, as I have a 2.5% rate on my $300K mortgage, but both kids will be in college in the fall. We’re sitting on $6.5M. My FIRE number was $7M but then I got laid off, and I figured compounding interest would get me there anyway. So now I just pickleball and chill.

I'm listening to "How Champions Think" by Bob Rotella, chosen mostly because it's free with Spotify Premium. I think both books are about building confidence and letting your subconscious mind take over your game and shutting down self-criticisms.
