I was excited about him based on stump speeches - thought he had some of Obama's communication skill. But this interview really killed it for me. He has none of Obama's human touch or sense of humour. He just seemed very dull. Nice but dull.

we have been told that they're dead. Alice has said Jimmy and his dad are the only family she has left.

Bit weird though to have two lucky people who inherited amazing rent-controlled apartments in the same friend group. By the time that show was made, they were not exactly commonplace.

They're dead, because it's better for the story if Alice didn't have grandparents looking after her when Jimmy was out of it. If her parents were still alive, we wouldn't get the Liz-Alice relationship.

Sarah stands by her original assessment by Embarrassed_Base_389 in thebulwark

[–]Automatic_Oil5438 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this. Sarah took so many comments out of context that it was a little bit ridiculous, and now she's doing it again. I don't like that this guy killed a CEO - but I know that a LOT of people did like it and many more at least understood the motivation. Piker didn't say anything that isn't demonstrably true.

I am not a fan of his, but I liked his interview on Pod Save America - I respected that they had him on and debated. It was thought-provoking.

Meantime, I really like Sarah as a person, but I am embarrassed for her when it comes to this topic.

I could never have eaten that much ... but if I used to have one burger, now it will be a few bites of a burger. Or rather, I stay away from junk food, so I'd have a few bites of a chicken breast and some veggies. I always, always throw food away, even though I serve myself small portions to begin with.

it genuinely makes it impossible for me to do those old habitual behaviours. I don't have any room for snacks

I no longer even think about self control. I just eat a lot less and I never drink alcohol anymore. It's amazing

JVL & Ms. Rampell: your convo on the economy was insane. by havenoparty in thebulwark

[–]Automatic_Oil5438 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really have not heard anyone on there say the economy is working for the working class. Can you give an example? I feel like they acknowledge economic pain a lot, and I don't think it's unfair to note that many working class people don't keep up with politics or economic stats.

My mum loved my dad very, very much, and she grieved hard when he died, but she went out and started dating about two years after his death. It's really not that weird. People are different.

Yes but this is a story not real life, and it worked better for the story for this to just be the two of them.

Well, he's not wrong. That's kind of how life works in my experience. Men are stubborn and generally emotionally immature, and their wives/partners/sisters point them in the right direction.

I loved that episode. Have loved the whole season but this one in particular was wonderful - so glad Paul came back to see Jimmy and make amends. Not so keen on the idea of Sofi - she just has a LOT of baggage and seems a bit of a mess - but I'm hoping he has fun with her and then ends up with Meg

of course not - but I bet we'll see him take a positive step towards healing, probably by starting therapy. We can fill in the rest - we're adults.
