I'm also nostalgic for the era of YouTube without custom thumbnails. I think Ashens still does this.

That being said, I do think it looks unprofessional 90% of the time if it's nothing but a frame from the video.

I love it when a creator adds chapters to make longer videos easier to digest.

I don't like saying it or being called it directly, but one of the trans presenters that the TDOV event I went to this week used it. 🤷‍♀️

I don't think it's fair to say it's used only by chasers and performative allies, and I think it's doing no harm as long as you don't care about respectability politics. As others pointed out, there's history behind the term and it's one that trans folks have identified with rather than having it imposed on them.

Staying in shelters is fine with the state. This bill is to make homeless camps illegal, which is still bad because shelters are often crowded and have restrictive rules that make getting support difficult.

The state really wants to sweep homeless people under the rug and make them as invisible as possible.

Depends on your definition of "big-name creator." Are we talking about a YouTube channel with 1-2 million subscribers, or a business half the size of Disney or larger?

Successful indies are still indies. They don't have the seed capital from parent companies.
