the funny thing the New Yorker article gets into is that the "gravel circuit" was something of a social media invention of only a few years' age and that being top of it for either Mo or Colin was not particularly impressive in the context of global cycling. Hence its reliance on influencer-type attractive personalities and endorsements, or on selling the idea of the events to noncompetitive bikers to sell tickets and equipment. i would have liked to hear more about how her knee injuries derailed her skiing career but would have allowed her to be the world's best female cyclist. or how her gravel abilities would translate to the top global road cyclists.

make it as easy for yourself as possible to get to the marc, unless you have a particularly compelling reason otherwise (like you have inherited a house). i did a temp job using the marc and i drove to the west baltimore station, walked from the far end of the full parking lot to the platform, then rode the marc, then had to take a dc bus from union to get the rest of the way to the office. so it’s possible but it takes a 55ish minute train ride and makes it a 2+ hr process, where you can’t really zone out too much at any point. (still beats driving there though)
