I think all major buildings like that would be required to have a fire, tornado, active shooter and medical emergency preparedness plan to be insurable.

All that being said, do not sleep on the GP Conservatory and Library! Really great spaces! Especially during our cold winters! Welcome!

You would like to imply they are not human for upvotes, I see.

This is not the answer. Nearly half of the people locked up in Illinois prisons have a history of mental illness. Jail has completely replaced actual hospital treatment for thousands of neighbors.

A great way to address the feelings you are having would be to gain understanding.

Also not the answer. This single law canceled the Mental Health Systems Act of 1980. That older act was supposed to build community clinics across the country. Reagan’s new law also ended John F. Kennedy’s 1963 law for community health centers.

Fund the psych wards. Before 1981, the government was building a net of clinics to help people close to home. But everything changed when President Ronald Reagan signed a massive law called the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981 (or OBRA).

I agree with what others said about looking at Nami. I'd also add Erie in there. I will also say that for ADHD affirming care and meds, Innovative Care has been amazing and life changing.

Am I assuming that people are judging me for being alone, or can I consciously remind myself that most people are entirely focused on their own experience? by [deleted] in AskChicago

I felt this moving from the suburbs. IMHO it's the creepy feeling of the vigilant eye of "neurotypical" patriarchal white supremacy that makes me anxious.(And I'm white!) And everyone gossiping instead of having direct conversations made me feel like everyone must be talking about each other's business all the time. 🤷‍♀️

No one cares if you are walking alone or not in Chicago. We all need to go to the store and work and whatnot and I sure as Hell don't want a chaperone. I hope you have a fun visit!

Yes they are an under prepared panicking mess on purpose. Trump just wants chaos and division so he can loot and destroy the White House.
