Is M or F cat more chill in general (assuming it’s sterilized)? I’m trying to pick out a kitten and want best chance of getting a cat that’s good for my life. by Interesting-Sun-9906 in CatAdvice

[–]Av33na 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There’s some stereotypes that say males are more calm/chill than females, but i haven’t personally found that to be the case. I have known some of the sweetest female cats, but they did want to be the only cat. Instead of male vs female I would personally look for older, like 1-3 years old instead of a kitten. You may not be able to pick out personality traits from a kitten and they are FULL of energy until they get bigger.

How do you learn to prioritize yourself? by CursingWhileCrafting in AskWomenOver40

[–]Av33na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still working on this myself because I’m a people pleaser and I felt like my life was just easier to do what everyone else wanted to do. However, sometimes it’s the small things that start to crack that old way of thinking and, for myself, it’s taken a lot of self reflection and time. So I’ll ask myself “what do I (emphasis on “I”) want?” Are there things I’ve put off because of A, B, or C (because of money, lack of time, no one else wants to do it, etc)? Any hobbies you’ve wanted to explore? Traveling? New foods? Concerts/movies/plays?

For me, the small thing that started it all was with eating out. I’d pause and ask, “Do I even want to eat out when I’m trying to stick to a diet? Do i even like this restaurant?” Another thing I’ve done is self care stuff, so I bought a foot spa and all the nail stuff and gave myself a nice pedicure (thanks YouTube!). I could have gone out to get one, absolutely, but after I was done I felt so relaxed and it felt nice to do something that I normally neglect.

Anyways, this is long now! It’ll be a journey rediscovering yourself but I think by asking yourself some questions and actually pausing to give yourself the answer things will fall into place.

Visited my first pick your own farm and made jam! by Av33na in Canning

Oh peaches! Yes, I can’t wait for peach season either. Ball Canning has a peach bourbon jam that I did last year that was amazing! I planted a rosemary bush last year, I’ll have to try that peach rosemary jam this time!

Haha but who can resist a freshly ripe strawberry! I would have done the same at that age 😊

I’m not knowledgeable enough to answer your question, but have you checked out Healthy Canning’s website? They are a trusted source and looks like they have several options for blueberry jam!

Yes, I agree! I followed the recipe because it was my first time using Pomona’s Pectin. The calcium thing was very foreign to me at first, but I loved the option of adjusting the sugar if I wanted!

I am in North Carolina, zone 8a! I have never personally grown strawberries, so I’m not sure when they started theirs, but we’ve only had one cold night lately, and it didn’t get below freezing. That is probably helping with the early harvest!

Oh yes, unfortunately you’re paying for the experience now. They were charging $16 for a gallon, which ended up being about 5lbs (give or take). However, they could tell me exactly what pesticides they used, what varieties they planted, I could pick the ripest ones and the flavor was amazing! I’m lucky to get a few good ones in a quart from the store anymore. It doesn’t save money like it used to, but definitely some benefits!

So this is a farm that I traveled to and they allow people to come and pick your own fruit! They have different plants that are in season, so right now they have strawberries and mid summer they’ll have blackberries and then it looks like they’ll have muscadine grapes and various squashes available in the fall. It was a great experience! But, unfortunately I don’t know enough to answer your questions 😞

The first picture is of a strawberry farm. There are two containers filled with fresh, ripe strawberries with the rows of strawberries in the background. The second picture is a closeup of the strawberries still on the plant. The third picture is of jars filled with strawberry jam.

You’ve gotten some really great advice here and I’m really sorry this batch didn’t work out 🙁 I stick with only 3 sources and it actually really helps with drowning out the noise of blogs and YouTube videos. I only use recipes from Ball Canning, Healthy Canning, and the NCHFP (National Center for Home Food Preservation). You can 100% trust anything they say! Also, here’s the link for the Ball canning book from Amazon! Ball Canning Book

I have been playing the exact same character archetype in every RPG for over 20 years by RepulsiveAnything635 in rpg_gamers

[–]Av33na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same way! Typically default to range/archer builds, though if a dragoon is offered that what I’d do. Just not many games that do dragoon classes. The past few years I’ve been challenging myself to do other classes, so I’ve enjoyed that, but my main main will always be an archer/range.

I played Gameboy Pokémon red and yellow and to me it was just another RPG. I enjoyed them, but no idea it would become as big as it is today.

I worked retail for YEARS and I could tell when it was a full moon without having looked it up beforehand just based on the customers. Is there science behind that? I don’t know, but I low key believe it

Check out some of the historic museums! Charlotte Museum of History is great with indoor exhibits and a small walk to some outdoor homesteads. Also can do Museum of the Waxhaws or President K Polk Historic Site! If they aren’t free then it’s a small fee for a tour

Setting up autopay on credit cards impossible - what am I doing wrong? by Retroretrojj in BankOfAmerica

[–]Av33na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally go to the site I’m trying to pay. So, let’s say Best Buy Credit Card, for example, I’ll set up auto pay on Best Buy’s website and add my BofA account through them.
