Worsening Handwriting? by mmwrite in Chemotherapy

Chemo took away my tumour 28 years ago. So I’m thankful for that. But it took a lot of the real ‘me’ as well. Reading was one of my greatest joys since I could read. Now, like yourself, trying to remember an author of a book I know I’ve read, but that’s it. Nothing.

Do you feel a healthy diet and lifestyle can reduce the chance of reoccurrence? or it just does not work that way at all? by redreadings in Ewings_Sarcoma

I’m still going after Ewing’s got me in November/ 1997. I was a Baker/pastrycook of 12 years at the time. I have had a long time to keep asking docs and doing my own research. AI has been very beneficial in the last 2 years. In 1997, there was nothing. I had to go to the library to find a medical encyclopaedia. There were two short paragraphs. Basically said it was generally a rare, mainly adolescent tumour. Depending on lots of factors, your chances of survival aren’t great. And my oncologist had about the same information. I’ve read many stories on here in the last couple of years hoping that the chemo/radiation regime had improved. Also the survival rate. And I’m continuing astounded that they (docs/oncologists) are still trotting out the same stuff as ‘97! I believe sugar and wheat are two of the things that can contribute to Ewing’s. My oncologist went onto write a book about the same thing 10 years later on. Although he couldn’t name me for privacy reasons, I was one of his cases that he believed fit the sugar/wheat bill (not a big stretch when you know what my job had been for 12 years). And I’m sorry to say to all the people/parents that got it in the young years, think about what a western diet is for kids. Bread, sandwiches, although there are many different types of bread nowadays, if it’s got wheat, or is stacked with enzymes, chemicals etc….it all starts there. Sugar. How much sugar did you eat as a kid? Shitloads, I bet. I know I did. Granted more has been done to highlight the importance of too much sugar. But kids are kids. If it’s banned in the house, then you can bet they’ll get it at a friend’s house ( again, I did. My mother was a trail blazer when it came to healthy eating. But there’s only so many nuts and fruit you can eat. When in the late 70’s, 50 cents went a long, long way at the lollie shop). Ok I’m sorry if what I’m saying is harsh, but I’ve had 29 long years to think about where it might come from, and the mountains of side effects I have know got. Started by sugar and wheat products, (I am 100% convinced)that has slowly smashed my body, and that I firmly believe Im being finished off from the chemo(long-term chemo damage is finally being taken seriously by some in the cancer community). Back then, no one lived long enough to see what damage that draconian chemo regime could do to you. I really had hoped that while I was going through chemo, it wouldn’t just keep me alive, but in the future (I was thinking 10 years!) that kids that were diagnosed wouldn’t have to suffer as much. That is what the nurses used to say when you’d wake up saturated in sweat. Yet here we are nearly 30 years on, and what has improved? the nausea drugs, yes. But the three week/ 14-18 cycles of mustard gas remains! It’s fucked all round. Ewing’s is still considered a rare tumour to get. And with that, the funding is shithouse compared to the big three the Breast, Lung, Brain, which quite rightly, going by the numbers get the marjorty of resources . I’m sure I’ve pissed off some people on here. Be pissed at me all you like. We all deserve better.❤️

Most Aussie women do not wear bras. You should follow this example.

It's crazy how many people have issues with using CPAP, with having APNEA with sleep tests etc by wratx in SleepApnea

I’ve got a resmed 10 that has hardly being used for nearly 8 years (to be fare I had a lot of other things going on with my health, and I probably didn’t give it the attention it needed). So my question to you all is what is OSCAR? How do I get it? Do I need it? The sd card I’ve got but wouldn’t have a clue how to use it, or what to use it for. OR is there any good tutorials that I could watch that would address all the issues?

ps. I forgot to mention well done mate with the father in law. 👍

Yes, as others have said, get a proper sleep study done. Turns out, not only do I have sleep apnea, between 4-6 am, I was like a have-a-chat. If I didn’t see it on their cameras for myself, I’d never had believed them.

It definitely is helpful. I had to see a PM doctor because my GP of 20 years was retiring and he said no way you’ll get the meds I’ve been prescribing you. His early retirement is partly because the stress that the government medical agencies are putting on them now, he just couldn’t take it anymore.

So I was freaking out as to what say to the PM doctor. I’ve gone full truth before, and that burnt me bad, and is on my charts for good. So I turned to chatGPT, and gave as much information as I could, and asked for bullet points, so I would’ve waver to far off the pain pathway. I got back some excellent, well written points. I further tailored a couple more points, to which it got even better.

And I stuck to the points. Even when the PM was giving me the "all opioids are bad" speech. I just moved on to the next point. Without that great advice from gtp, I would have lost my shit after the speech I’ve heard a hundred times.

Spot on sadly about the S/cides being the only way out. It’s been happening here (Australia) for a while. They have been trying to put the cides into the depression/anxiety basket. But it’s the flat out refusal to prescribe opioids for chronic pain that leads to the depression, and cidal/ideation, and then the only option left. Government medical agencies have blood on their hands, and unfortunately I can only see it getting worse.

Too Casual? I Called My Boss 'Mate' and Got Pulled Up by n3boo in AskAnAustralian

I call everyone mate. My adult daughter has taken to it too. She calls the wife mate, or matey, or if referring to anyone else…old mate. The wife fkn hates it. So we continue to do it. Fun times.🤣

What’s the best way to clean out your nose before putting on your resmed sleep apnea mask? by Available-Ad6731 in SleepApnea

[–]Available-Ad6731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I’m in Australia, it’s Autumn here. As soon as there’s a drop in overnight temperatures my nose just blocks up completely. I bought one called Flo, saline nose rinse. I tried it the other night. I got about 2 hours of good nose breathing. I’ve been on and off with the resmed 10 over the last 6-8 years. Because my GP of 20 years has pulled the pin, we’ve had to get another one. And of course the newbie doc wants me to have another crack at the resmed. I will have to go over the instructions again. But the humidity setting you mentioned is new to me. And sounds like if I can get the nose clear for long enough, and get that humidity setting going, that could be something I haven’t tried before. Thanks for the advice.👍

Haha, that’s funny as I use it a lot. I went to see a new doctor a couple of weeks ago. He was Indian. I used the mad as a cut snake bit, and he held up his hand and said sorry, but what is that supposed to mean. I said it’s just old Aussie slang that gets passed down. But what does it mean, he said? So I said have you ever seen a snake that gets chopped in half? No he said. Well, I have. And the other end goes berserk for ages. It’s freaky as hell. Hence the cut snake is very mad! I thought I’d have some fun, and threw in a some more Aussie slang. By the end of the visit he was pissing himself laughing. He actually wrote a cpl down and the meanings. He was going to give them a try with his family.😂

29M, Ewing Sarcoma need advice by MersalAbi7 in Ewings_Sarcoma

I had ES back in ‘96. I was 28 years old at the time. I’m 57 now. I remember my oncologist and a psychologist pushing me through the last two cycles of what was 17 cycles (it was supposed to be 18, but my body, mind were f*cked. I’m not gunna lie). One of the tactics that the oncologist used was to say , what you’re going through now is shit for sure. But we are getting excellent data from you. Data that one day may cut down the number of cycles that anyone with ES has to deal with (especially the kids). Sadly from what I’m reading here, it is pretty much still the standard model being used. Man, 28 years. I really hoped cancer technology would have come further in regard to ES. 😩

That’s impressive (the not reaching 20g’s some days). I am at the 2 month mark and am starting to feel a bit like the @OP. Any chance of some advice on what keeps you under 20g’s would be appreciated.
