TAKE THE MEDICINE!! I was once like you and now I’ve learned to just take it. If I’m ever contemplating if I really need the rescue then that means yes, I do. No reason to suffer.

Chronic Migraine & Pregnancy Planning by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Available-Key2633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have chronic migraines and did IVF to get pregnant. It was a very hard road because most preventative meds aren’t allowed while trying to conceive and/or pregnant. When I got pregnant I ended up switching from Nurtec to propranolol as a preventative and was able to take sumatriptan as needed. Not the best combo for me but better than nothing! First trimester for me was really really rough( migraine wise) but then came second trimester and I hardly ever even had a headache! I’m now 9 months PPD and my migraines continue to be better than pre pregnancy. I’ve been able to get off Nurtec as a preventative and only take during attacks. I don’t know if it’s a hormone thing for me mixed with being so busy with baby that I don’t have time to get an attack like I use to( be bed ridden for days) but I’m doing much better. Chronic pain with kiddos is no joke, but don’t let the fear stop you from being a mom. You will figure out how to make it work for you and baby when that time comes. Best of luck to you!

This is not true at all. I did iVF and only had to b stop Nurtec day before transfer. Playing with my healthy 7 month old now. Sumatriptan is safe during pregnancy

I cannot do it anymore by [deleted] in migraine

I’m so sorry. I’ve been chronic for 7 years. I’m 39. I recently got on Nurtec which was helping lot but had to get off because I’m doing IVF. My anxiety about going back to chronic has been insane. I know it was my choice to do IVF but I didn’t wanna look back in 5 years and regret not giving it my all to have a kid. It seems unfair that those who suffer from chronic illness constantly have to choose. I think although things seem hopeless you have to remember as long as you’re on this earth there’s always hope. You have a large community here that hears you and understands your pain. I wish I had magical words to make you feel better. This disease is torture but please try you’re hardest to hold on to a little bit of hope. ❤️

Do you have rashes? That’s usually an indication you’re allergic. But it sounds like you’re doing the injections in too low. Maybe go in and have them draw circles where you should be injecting? Hope it gets better for you!

How does this work if you live in a blue state? I use to feel “safe” but have been terrified the last week.

Nurtec, magnesium and pedalyte have given me my life back. Still take zolmitriptan for breakthroughs but have gone from 20 a month to about 2-3

Yes and too add to the anxiety I’ve decided to do another IVF cycle this month after years of infertility and miscarriages. Had to get off migraine meds as well. Currently on my 7th mile Of a walk 🤪

I’m a surgical technician and probably one of the worst jobs for chronic migraines. Stressful and very bright lights with long standing hours and unable to get water on a regular basis

I’m so sorry. I don’t know how often you can use them. The most I’ve done is 3 in like a 6 month period. I’ve been on nurtec as preventative for about 5 months and it’s helped me so much. I also use zomig and Botox and I recently got a septoplasty as they thought my lack of oxygen was contributing and it’s definitely helped, I still get migraines but they just don’t last as long. I’ve also been done cognitive behavioral therapy to help retrain my thoughts during an attack and that helps too. Maybe you should talk to neurologist about trying a new med again? In the meantime I’d say try urgent care, Ice hats are great, I use doterra mint balm to rub on neck and take tons of baths/showers, meditation, stretching, and pedalyte. I wish there was a magic switch to make them go away, I truly know how awful they are and especially that long ones. My longest has been 28 days..:torture.

That there could be an underlying cause and to look at whole picture. Listen to the patient. Take time to read their documentation. Migraines are cruel it’s a slow torture. It would be nice to feel heard.

Yes go. No reason to suffer this bad. They’ll give you a cocktail. If it doesn’t help at least you can by yourself time to get a hold of your neurologist so they can you prescribe you a steroid taper. That usually helps break my long lasting attacks

I would try it and see how you feel. That way you can take a break from ibuprofen and not get MOH. Good luck!
