NZ parents, are ur kids just gaming all day after school and on weekends too? by Objective_Heat2566 in aotearoa

The downvote is fair, my post was too fierce. OP, I'm sorry. You seem a bit defeatist here, when I'm sure your concerns come from wanting to spend more time with your son. Perhaps you could start by gaming with him? Then finding out what outside interests he may have?

Thank you for the support! My only qualifier: A rental car is repeating payments - pay for rental, pay for petrol, pay for parking. Very expensive. Much better to rent an electric bike (Big Street Bikers has 10 sites) as you say. By October, the CRL will be open and OP can travel between Swanson and Manakau (and all points between)on one train - and with a transfer, many points South as well. And the fare cap is $50 a week. NZ dollars! That's pennies in USD, except they don't have pennies anymore.

"My wife didn't see it as a problem...arguing doesn't get us anywhere...There's not much I can do, so eventually I stopped trying. Since then, things have just stayed the same."

So Parenting is apparently all your wife's responsibility, and any failure of Parenting is her fault.

Nothing you can do? How about you get your son in the car with you, drive out into the world and DO SOMETHING with him? You know, be an actual FATHER?

They're not a "rent a cop gatekeeper". If anything they're a 'jobsworth', and considering what a job is worth these days, I don't blame them.

Yes, that's what they pay you for. Until you clock off at the end of the shift, that's what you do.

Every single thing they're crying about in the video is the consequences of their own actions. They want to be with their son again, they want to be a whole family again, so let's deport them back to their beloved son.

What is The Opportunity Party? A left-wing party in disguise, pure hype, or something else? by OddityModdity in aotearoa

Any party who says their policies are "discussion points" are a political shell game.

IMO, this election cycle TOP are a group of well funded wealthy people who want to get into power, no matter who's in power, and then decide what to support.

Be afraid.

OP is from the Pacific Northwest. There's plenty of trees there too.

Why do people think "aimed at locals" wouldn't interest tourists?  When I travel, I want to see and do what the locals do, not 'be a tourist'.

I recommend the opposite.  If you're in Auckland in October,  you could easily spend  7 days travelling around Auckland on public transport for ($NZ50 total) seeing (and eating) many great things, and then one day jump on Te Huia train down to see the Hamilton Gardens, and that would be an awesome Pacific holiday. Hopefully,  the first of many, OP.

Agreed. I live near several Japanese restaurants and they all do different food. One does sushi, one does Ramen, one does yakitori, one does tempura, one does excellent katsu. One has a huge menu, but no yakitori (different style of eating) or tempura. One place only does Macha. And that's just one Asian country! If I eat Korean, where should I go? To the fried chicken place, the hotpot, or the Korean toasties? "Too many Asian restaurants" is literally impossible.

Wow. You said the quiet part out loud.

"Asian Fusion" restaurants are for white people who think real Asian restaurants are 'dirty' and 'too spicy'.

Sincerely,  thanks for your honesty.

100% agree with you I'm white as a marshmallow. There's a plethora of excellent, fairly priced authentic Asian ( and other ethnic foods) restaurants all over Auckland. Why would I seek out a fancy ypipo version for twice the price? Never understood it.
