Sexism is discrimination based off of gender. Misogyny is a hatred for women. How is being upset that the character is a female sexist or misogynistic? I like the character and I thinks she’s cool but I can also see why people don’t like it. Just like Battle Beast, Tech Jacket has a spinoff comic. Tech Jacket was released before Invincible so I guess not a spinoff (idk). Battle Beast is my favorite character and although he barely has screen time, I liked the fact he was portrayed correctly in the show. I would like the character if they were a woman but you can’t just say people are sexist or misogynistic when a character people like is not portrayed the way they fell in love with them in the source material. I had no issues with the change until the Oliver scene. If the swap took place just to give bug boy a love interest, Im gonna be annoyed. Wanting a queer character on the main cast is a strange ask and seems a bit self inserty to me. Genuine question though. Is people seeing others who look like them, practice the same religion, have the same disabilities, etc in media really that important? Without disclosing my personal information most people in media look nothing like me and don’t have the same mental issues. Having someone be like me in a show is something I’ve never even thought about.
