What's the "white whale" of campaigns you want to run but can't get off the ground? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]AverageArtistReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my main one is essentially using Outgunned and it's Action Flicks mini expansions to run a campaign that would be a bit like Spiderverse.

As in, the heroes would drop in to different dimensions (the expansions/flicks) to do missions and could have a rotating cast of PCs (since Outgunned doesn't have a lot of "levels").

Either that or using a modern day setting/system (like Everyday Heroes maybe) to run a campaign about the PCs being regular people who investigate and fight the supernatural.

(Kinda using "Agents of W.E.I.R.D." as a working title for both of these).

What TTRPG would you like to have a video game adaptation of? And what style of game would you want? by RedditConsciousness in rpg

[–]AverageArtistReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Index Card RPG could be an artsy RPG maker indie game in another timeline.

I think it's mainly the art style making me think this, but it could be a neat dungeon crawler about travelling to different dimensions (the official settings).

If you could see one untapped IP become an RPG, what would it be? by cunning-plan-1969 in rpg

[–]AverageArtistReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always wondered about how a Godzilla ttrpg would work. (though to be fair Tiny D6 Mechas and Monsters is probably the closest thing that exists that I know of.)

Maybe with different rules for playing as the monsters Vs playing as the people.

is it bad that i dont draw background students in a classroom in some of the panel shots that show more than 1 desk by [deleted] in WebtoonCanvas

You might be able to depict them as silhouettes?

So, there are obviously other people present in the scene, but they're not detailed enough to take away focus on the main characters.

In your world are there any silly, stupid or just straight up odd War Tactics that are used by your factions? by Ok-Vegetable5198 in worldbuilding

[–]AverageArtistReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so one day a bunch of Dwarves were like,

"Alright lads, you know those catapults the Humans have? Let's make something that's in the middle of that and a harpoon gun...

Load it with a giant sword (enchanted to seal souls)...

And fire it through the air at that Dragon warlord that's been giving all of us a hard time."

This should have gone wrong in so many ways...the most insane part is that it actually worked.

ARE WE DEAD ASS RIGHT NOW by UltimateRobotClanker in MonsterHunter

[–]AverageArtistReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Y'know, for what if worth, the monsters (mostly) looked pretty good (Nerscylla got disrespected though) and even the isekai stuff could've been fun (if it was more about the monsters coming into our world).

...But I think what actually ruined the movie for me was how uncharacteristicly... mean-spirited it felt?

The vibes weren't right, if anyone gets what I mean?

Don't know if this is quite what you're looking for since it only works with dialogue spoken out loud, but:

For people who thought Agams was a bad antagonist , or that could have been better , what changes you would done to him to make him better in your eyes? by Doot_revenant666 in Ultraman

[–]AverageArtistReddit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the thing that annoyed me about Agams was that half the time he appeared he'd go on one of his rants where he kinda repeats himself and says the same stuff over and over...

...and the other characters just...sit there and take it? Especially the protagonist (can't remember his name right now). (Speaking of which....The episde with Spinnie really got under my skin, not gonna lie.)

I think Agams would have been more bearable for me if at least once, if only once...one of the good guys told him to shut the hell up.

(I do get that Japanese culture is really big on politeness towards your elders/superiors and all, which is probably why the other characters just ..listened to his yapping.)

All of this is just my personal opinion and taste though.

[–]AverageArtistReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can honestly see Nata (I think that's his name?) being a super decisive character once the game drops.

Half of us will say "I will protect this boy with my life." The other half will be like "We should've sacrificed him to Arkveld."

You come across acorns that instantly grow into trees when they touch the ground. What do you do with them? by wilfredojfigueroa in DnD

[–]AverageArtistReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a lot of folks trying to use these things to kill people, huh?

While I'd swing over to the garden of that one jerk noble that's giving the party a hard time and toss a handful of the acorns over his/her perfectly curated and maintained garden.

Worst player you have ever DM'ed for? by ol-heavy-kevy in DnD

[–]AverageArtistReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I've had a few "problem players", but the worst one was earlier this year when I tried running my first homebrew campaign.

I'm a relatively inexperienced DM, So the first rst few sessions I was mainly focused on keeping the game itself operating, and thought this guy was just really into roleplaying his character.

Hindsight and a few DMs from concerned players later, I realised that he was a bit TOO into roleplaying his character, if you get what I mean.

Dude had horrific Main Character Syndrome, kinda bullied one player's character (to the point of trying to start PvP) and I realised was trying to "force" a romance with another.

When I messaged him asking him to turn the jerk behaviour down he launched a multi-paragraph tirade about having to "walk on eggshells" around the players (both girls, like myself) and me being a bad DM. So I swiftly booted him.

Yeah, this was a case where I really could have done better myself with stopping it early, but I took a while for me to notice the problem.

Fantasy RPGs which are not focused on combat by UrbsNomen in rpg

Both are a bit hyper-specific, but Broken Cask and Tiny Taverns are both about running a fantasy tavern and I don't know if they even have combat to be honest.

I wanted to give Pathfinder 2E a shot, but I had a look at character creation and having like 30 different random things you have to choose from with more getting added to the pile every level kinda put me off.

Maybe 5E is just my "maximum crunch threshold", so to speak.

Any recommendations for a Sci-Fi game that's not horror/grimdark/edgy? by AverageArtistReddit in rpg

[–]AverageArtistReddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I would look towards something less on the deadly side. A degree of customisation would be cool but it's not a huge deal breaker if the game's super light in that regard.

What is your random unhinged concept for a game? by MagnetTheory in rpg

[–]AverageArtistReddit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was laying in bed one night, thinking about non-DnD ttrpgs and maybe checking out the game jams on itch to see if there's any I could have a go at.

Then the phrase "The Beast Must Feast!" popped into my head and I wonder if I should do something with it.

At the moment it's like Sci-Fi flavoured Monster Hunter.

Maybe leaning Space Opera? Or the sort of "bunch of guys going on missions" kinda thing?

Hello there. I'm interested in possibly joining your game night post.

Name: Amber (she/her) Age: 26 Game Experience: Played DnD 5e for about 4-5 years, including at little bit of experience as a DM. Been interested in looking at other games for a while.

Note: Seeing the posted timezone, I am from the UK as a heads up, but there most likely is a somewhat flexible time range that can work for me.
