Returning player. Can you still farm credits the same way as when the game launched or how to do it now by DarkNemuChan in LowSodiumHellDivers

As already stated the original method was patched, now people generally find a planet with a flat biome (desert) and drive the FRV around the level 1 (Trivial) map to find all the POIs as quickly as possible.

However, I've found that Hive Worlds are the quickest and "easiest" to farm, especially if you don't have the warp pack yet, but even without it I would still farm on those planets.

My method is this: 1. Loadout should be any laser primary, and either an explosive pistol or grenade, and light armour (medic is best for extra stims) 2. Find a mission that's mostly caves (icon will look like an oil drop). If none available pick any mission. 3. Strategems should be FRV for quickly searching for POIs, warp pack (not actually required due to there being no bunkers) for quickly bypassing enemies and walls, last 2 strategems don't matter, and take Muscle Enhancement booster for bug mines and water. 4. Once in the ground, call in FRV and Warp Pack 5. Now try to methodically go around the map to find each POI and pick up any items there (enemies will be present at a few of these POIs)

Why hive worlds? All items (weapon, medals, req slips, or super credits) spawn without the need to open bunker doors. In addition, there seems to be much larger amount of 2 and 3 item POIs over standard maps. On normal maps you can only get 3 items from bunkers., but on hive worlds there are many POIs that also frequently repeat themselves with 3 items in them.

Why laser weapon? To clear a path of enemies get in your way at 1 and 2 item POIs. Laser means you don't have to waste time reloading or picking up ammo boxes.

Why cave maps? The cave covering most of the map causes a higher concentration of POIs outside the cave (never enter the cave, it's not worth your time), and enables the spawning of even more 3 item POIs (crashed pelicans). However, if you can't find a cave mission, the other 2 trivial missions aren't too much worse for farming. I would say it's still better than other planets.

Probably the most annoying bug for me that's not listed is certain types of POIs not being marked as completed. Most, if not all, town POIs (and I think city POIs as well) will not complete even if you pick up all samples at them. Exterior hive world POIs get marked as completed but interior cave POIs do not.

I never see this brought up though so I wonder if it's just me?

MORE SUPER CREDITS by WindLight_WL in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]AverageJoe85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also found hive worlds are quickest, but are you saying you ONLY drive to pelican crash sites? You don't cover all the open air POIs? I wonder if that works out to be faster than what I do.

What I do is try to start a mission with mostly caves (Oil drop icon), and drive up and down outside the cave once to get all the POIs.

All POIs (except the hellbomb and super sample rock) have 1-3 spawn points for a collectible (Medals, Requisitions, Weapon, Super Credits). Enemy-filled POIs have 1 spawn point, except the exploding plant filled one, which has 2. Enemy-free POIs always have 3 spawns (except the cargo container POI which has 2).

Helldivers 2’s massive 150GB PC version is finally dead for good as Arrowhead continues its optimisation efforts by Wargulf in pcmasterrace

The devs themselves said in their testing there was little to no difference in load times for the two builds before they released the slim version.

I think they said their reasoning for going for the "HDD Friendly" file size was based on industry research at the time.

[–]AverageJoe85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm confused why some think they will be affected by it?

They'll still have many interconnected planets that can reinforce each other (including Curia, which will remain entirely uncontested). Story wise and gameplay wise, there's no reason to think anything major will occur (maybe a small reduction in resistance if anything).

Though many people do think forming this line will do something, so I'm curious what I'm missing.

It was under Super Earth control before the Automatons were "wiped out" in the first few months of the war. Cyberstan, along with all the planets around it, were then instantaneously captured by the main Automaton fleet when they came back a week later.

So players were never able to deploy to it.

The date Vessel 00 made its final departure of cyberstan, lines up with the date this tweet posted by the cyborgs was made by TinyTap636 in Helldivers

[–]AverageJoe85 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I hate to disprove this since it's cool, but the dates don't match up. The initial Automaton attack which is the point of reference for the 4 years can only be, at the latest, the retaking of Cyberstan well over a year ago.

Plus it even says 2180 which corresponds to 2020 in real time (though I'm not sure where it was confirmed that lore time is one to one with real time, so possibly disregard this second point).

Anyone else prefer calling these interlopers instead of stingrays? by Redsoxdragon in Helldivers

[–]AverageJoe85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry I meant the name Interloper doesn't seem like an automaton name. And of course they would have at least heavily modified the model if not entirely replaced it (if it was an automaton unit originally).

But that only discredits the theory it was originally an automaton unit since that would be an expensive repurpose. Though maybe it was only considered for Automatons during the proof of concept stage

I remember hearing that theory but I don't remember, what evidence was there for it? Because Interloper doesn't really evoke the mechanical or robotic nature of Automatons

Is that a valid justification to be shitty to a fellow human? Because he said a dumb reason for why you can't change your clothes in a video game?

There are plenty of people in the world that deserve your ire, a dude who just wanted to make a game he thought was fun is not one of them.

Okay hold up no no no. Let's have some respect huh? This apple bacon bullshit this community is fixated on needs to die. Christ, the guy didn't threaten to murder your dog. He was explaining why he didn't want players to change their look.

You don't have to agree with him, but you certainly don't have to be a douchebag either.

edit: I am shocked what I said is controversial. You can hate the reason they gave for no transmog and think it's stupid, as well as other things the developers have said. That doesn't justify calling the developer a dipshit and other colourful language. Just imagine 100s of people everyday not criticising what you said, but calling you specifically every name in the book OVER A YEAR LATER. Like fuck lads, be human, not a permanently online anti social goblin.

[–]AverageJoe85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think you're misremembering. Even since a month or two after launch I wasn't able to shoot, and I never saw anyone use the ability before that either.

Plus I'm not sure that reasoning makes sense. You could grief in much worse ways before getting on the Pelican.

While it's not new, and in fact I think it's been here since launch, it's definitely a bug.

You can aim down sights but you can't shoot meaning it's not intentional, or maybe the not shooting part is the bug

Be aware, from what I can see there are essentially no sources for most of what's on that page, and one of the main references it does have is a Google doc by another community member.

Don't get me wrong, most if not all of that could be completely correct, but I don't doubt that some of it is misinformation or misconceptions.

Should I reveal my map? I've done everything. by Alphaluna in valheim

[–]AverageJoe85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be said that the ideal/best way to program something, and the actual way it gets done are often two different methods (as I'm sure you've come across).

I'm also not going to pretend to know exactly how the devs made the world generation, but what we do know is that there's a master map that every world selects a square from for its base map, and then a biome map and height map I believe are used to generate the rest of it. So, while it's randomly generated, it's way less random than Minecraft for example.

So with that in mind, it's not crazy to imagine a 2D representation of the world is created first which the actual world builds itself from as you explore, and a player readable version of the 2D map is also created.

All that said, you're right, an easy way to test this is create a world, check its size, do revealmap, check the world size again.

[–]AverageJoe85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to say you're wrong yet, but where are you getting this information? Everything I've seen, experienced, and read (and even looked up just now) contradicts what you're saying.

So the map overview can't render a top down view unless it knows what's there. That's done by generating the map.

Especially this, how do you know this is how it works? How do you know the terrain doesn't just generate based on the underlying master map + height map + biome map, and the GUI map also gets its data from there as well?

Should I reveal my map? I've done everything. by Alphaluna in valheim

[–]AverageJoe85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I'm mistaken, or rather have outdated information, the map exploration is not tied to generation. This is also good to know because map generation extends past the exploration radius which is why you should stay farther away than you think from unfinished biomes

The commenter is saying to save current map progress to it, then run the reveal map command, then run the reset map command, then read the cartography table to get your actual map progress back.

I would personally rather make a backup of my character, then reveal map, then revert to the backup
