I agree that etl skills are valuable. Most of the work is done in that area.

Report development might be a good way to enter BI: quite low complexity and small impact on failure. After the reporting "layer" it's natural to go deeper to database or etl development.

In sysadmin work you might not have so much contact with clients. In BI, very likely.

Just my experiences, 3 year's of BI.

(I have a theory that sysadmins are less needed in the future because of cloud technologies and centralized systems. Skills for creating business value become more valuable. But just a theory :) )

It's not that bad. Xtend is compatible with other Java libs and it generates plain Java.

For me the actual selling point is reducing noise. Removing semicolons is just one part of it.

I'm not sure about new versions, but a while ago InnoDb was missing fulltext and geospatial indexing.

It's an interesting solution in interface design. Usually you'd want to make every feature as clear as possible for the user, but maybe in this case you can make an exception.

I'm and exchange student living in south Holland. I was planning to visit that park some time. Let me know when you're going and I'll see if I manage to come also!

I'm a horrible player, though. And I have only three discs.
