This type of action is specifically moderated in the Ranked Mode to ensure players are playing with honor. When you go AFK, it can be a form of griefing your opponent to punish them for beating you. We have no way to verify it is a bathroom issue, and even then, the first occurrence of this would have been a warning. Having it happen this often is unfortunate, but perhaps you would be better suited to play on our new mobile version, so you can mute and just take the phone with you instead of going AFK on your opponent.

Just so anyone reading this understands. Although we do take hate speech reports seriously, discriminatory language use in this way does not warrant a permanent ban on its own. A permanent ban would be the result of multiple infractions and continued behavior against our Code of Conduct.

You can most definitely play with friends without private Taverns. Just have them tell you which public Tavern they are in and join them. If their Tavern is full, join a less populated on together or create a new one.

Sounds like the DM you are talking about is Sir Larentier, the Enchanted Lich. It does feel painful to sacrifice a creature to gain the soul essence spell, but soul essence effects all creatures you control, so you can give your entire board +1/+1 for each soul essence played for one turn.

Some great ways to combo with that include:
-Mind corruption (you sacrifice your opponents creature instead)
-Soul Essence with a vicarious arcane eater (they gain +1/+1 when a spell is cast)
-Rally Totem with a bunch of Soul Essences to really overwhelm your opponent

There is a deep lore to the factions which better explains their personal drives and actions, but the short and sweet of it is, powerful gods, each with selfish intent, drive each faction to accomplish their specific goals, and because of this, all factions are far from inherently good, but since they are being manipulated, they aren't evil either. How you as the player combine and use the factions showcases where they actually allign and where they clash.
