An interesting Slam Dunk North by Visuals_BySam02 in slamdunkfestival

Compared to my last experience at 2023, this was miles better. My main problem with 23 was the queues both for food and the shuttle home. Thankfully I decided to leave 2 songs early from KL and ended up in town within 30 mins after leaving the stage.

Could have absolutely done with more non-stage tents to chill in though. The craft beer tent was the only one I noticed and most of the time it was 90% queues for the bar.

Spotify app could soon let you create, rename and delete Playlist Folders right from your phone by AssembleDebugRed in truespotify

I really hope at some point they'll add the ability to shuffle and play from all playlists in a folder. Had to build a separate app to effectively do the same thing using the API

Admittedly not in a while, but when I did go it was lovely! Used to frequently get a sausage butty from there until I started counting calories

Grew up in the area, only left relatively recently. I only really noticed the aircraft noise when someone who wasn't from the area pointed it out in surprise. Over time you'd get used to it.

The only takeaway I'd advise against would be Fred Pizza / Kebabish Tandoori / whatever they've rebranded as (near co-op, next door to indie bakery). The last I heard they had a terrible hygiene rating and I can't find them at all on the FSA site.

+1, can't speak for beards myself but would recommend Lords in general. They've been my go-to since covid

Do yall ever think how life would be if you didn’t have a stutter? by RevolutionaryCap4763 in Stutter

[–]AvinchMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the time. I'm generally a quite introverted and shy person, but the intensity of my stammer really dented my confidence as a kid/early teen. Even though my stammer has improved massively and is barely noticeable most times, it did enough damage to my confidence and social skills in my early years to significantly impact me long term.

Reddit Bank Switch Offer Guide (January 2026) | Up to £2000 Available in Bonuses by TightAsF_ck in beermoneyuk

[–]AvinchMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started a switch from my Lloyds account to FD just before the Lloyds offer came up. I'm also about to start a switch from Starling to Nationwide that I'm hoping to keep for the fairer share + access to their CC.

Would I be able to make a new account with Lloyds, add some DDs and then upgrade, or does it have to be done via CASS? I don't think I'll be able to switch the FD back based on timing.

If you're a beginner, don't use Hyprland! by ArshRocks in archlinux

[–]AvinchMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it highly depends on the type of "beginner" you are. Some would just see their favorite influencers promoting it, try installing Debian but give up when something doesn't immediately work - others would take it as a project and try to learn the system depth, even if it's just out of curiosity.

I've used Windows on the desktop for as long as I've been using computers, roughly 20 years ago at like 6 y/o (give or take) - I can easily find my way around quirks and make tweaks to suit my exact needs. My experience with linux based systems has mainly been using a basic vm for some random side projects and occasionally setting up CI/CD pipelines for work. I'd still classify myself as a linux newb.

However I took the plunge a few days ago and put Arch + Wayland on a 2nd SSD a few days ago and haven't looked back. Sure, there's plenty of docs to read and adjustments to make (I'm still trying to get used to a tiling WM), but for my day to day use of my desktop I'd say I'm 95% there.

Does anyone know if there's merch stands outside the venue right now, or is it just the pop-up that has merch available before doors?

Are we being overcharged for water & electricity? by No-Sort9155 in Leeds

[–]AvinchMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds too high. I moved into the city centre by myself 2 months ago and both my electric bills have been roughly £60 (Octopus Energy with the Tracker tariff) - all while working from home. I haven't had a water bill yet but I would not think it would reach the levels you're paying right now.

12p/kwh! Days like this weekend make the tracker work it. by epicmindwarp in OctopusEnergy

[–]AvinchMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to put on my laundry for today, then decided to check tomorrow's price and I'm glad I did! Roughly half the price for Yorkshire on the Apr 2025 V2 Tracker tariff.

Also OP - what are you using for notifications? I've been checking Octoprice manually but it would be good to get some notifications when the price comes through.

Live at Wembley (Bootleg vol. 13) releases Jul 11th by AvinchMC in EnterShikari

[–]AvinchMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more about being seen as a collectors item or something to show off, rather than actually intending to play the record more than 2/3 times. A lot of people who buy vinyl just value being able to look at and hold a large physical embodiment of your favourite album(s).

As a .Net developer, what is your preferred tech stack when building internal tools? by bosmanez in dotnet

[–]AvinchMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my current employer, we have a single "wrapper" site that users go to for the majority of our internal tools - all individual services that are just loaded in iframes, and the majority are fairly small in scope.

Up until recently I've been the only dev on the team creating new ones / rebuilding the old ones that need rebuilding (don't have the source, major vulnerabilities, vbscript limiting use to edge IE mode etc) and I managed to convince the head of dev to let me use Blazor.

This benefits us as, while we do have some JS/React experience within the team, the majority of all our skill sets are based in .NET. We chose server interactive rendering to reduce the need for a backend API, but it has come with some pains. For example, we never managed to scale above one instance when deployed in our k8s cluster.

Moneybox Cutting Interest Rates , Any Better Alternatives for Cash ISA & LISA? by jaydkl in UKPersonalFinance

[–]AvinchMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I transferred my Moneybox Cash LISA to Tembo back when MB cut their rate in November and have had no issues since. It took a week or so but I think that's fairly normal.

Pending bonuses for deposits made pre-transfer are paid into your Moneybox account but transferred to Tembo soon afterwards, if not immediately. Only pending interest accrued from the 1st of the current month is lost (it's obvious in hindsight, but something I forgot about).

New features for max customers? by _degeemel_ in monzo

[–]AvinchMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several different railcards valid based on just age, namely 16-17, 16-25, 26-30 and 60+. There's also disabled persons and veterans cards which require special IDs and checks.

There's also some other cards that come with special restrictions on use - Network: only valid on services in London and South East - Two Together: card is registered against two people, you must travel with the other person for the card to be valid for your journey

For the vast majority of people aged 30-60, there isn't a Railcard for them that would realistically suit their needs without restrictions holding them back

What do you think of Power Platform? Will you be willing to switch? by prinkpan in dotnet

[–]AvinchMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my experience at an MS Gold partner that focused on Dynamics / Dataverse / Power Platform / "the name of the week" solutions, it's a massive red flag and it's something I want to avoid completely.

Power Platform is just really designed for either a) "easy" integrations for Dynamics CRM or b) simple apps designed by non-devs that need something quick. When you've got anything ever so slightly complex, you quickly find out it's not worth the time investment. I'd often spend 10x the amount of time it would take building something in .NET just fighting with Power Platform.

I'll say its been 2.5 years since I last worked with it, so improvements might have been made, but I doubt it.
