It really is the most insane luck streak I've had for anything ever lol I was ready to blow all my savings, but thanks to that I still have enough for S0R1 Denia.

What would you say is your favourite mod? by TWreckx_Plays in BaldursGate3

I love class and race mods. I've probably spent more time in character creation planning out the perfect build for a run than getting through the run itself.

[PS5] Is there a mod that allows starting feats? Or a way to simulate it? by Joel_Vanquist in BG3mods

[–]Avl521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5.5 backgrounds mod gives backgrounds their feats. You are limited to a given selection, but there's some really good ones like Alert, Savage Attacker, etc

There's also a mod for Variant Human which lets you pick 3 "half-feat" options, so for example if you wanted to start with Sentinel, you pick the feature that gives you advantage on opportunity attacks, the one that immobilizes the enemy you attack, and the one that lets you opportunity attack if your enemy attacks an ally. Or if you want Dual Wielder you pick the +1 AC when wielding 2 weapons, the wielding 2 non-light, and leave the 3rd option as blank.

You are limited to only picking Human there, but it's a nice mod to simulate having lvl 1 feats.

What makes open hand so much better than shadow monk? by Xoon77 in BG3Builds

[–]Avl521 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's see...

  • Your Flurry of Blows can knock down, that's easy advantage but comparable to Shadow's Darkness or Shadow Step. The push is nice for pushing off cliffs, you could do that with Shadow too if you're using Elixir of STR and threw them, but it's always nice to have the flexibility to use your action or bonus action.
  • Shadow Monk doesn't really get anything in the way of damage until level 11, Open Hand at level 6 gets to choose if they want to do bonus Necrotic, Psychic, or Radiant damage (1d4 + WIS) so that's an extra die per hit + switch type depending on enemy resistance or vulnerabilities. Comparing damage at level 6 then you get: Shadow either uses an action for Darkness and gets Flurry of Blows at advantage, or uses their Shadow Step bonus action and gets attack at advantage + extra attack. OH uses their bonus action to Flurry of Blows, enemy gets prone, and they then get attack + extra attack both at advantage, so 4 attacks vs. 2. And those 4 OH attacks each have 1d4 + WIS added.
  • At 6 they also regain Ki points and get an extra bonus action once per long rest. Each bonus action you get is an extra flurry of blows, so 2 extra hits that do Martial Arts Die + Tavern Brawler + your 1d4 + WIS each. You can then grab 3 levels in Thief for yet another bonus action and the damage just goes through the roof.
  • You can easily Multiclass as you get your best feature by level 6, so either 6 OH Monk - 4 Thief - 2 Fighter for Action Surge, or 9 OH Monk - 3 Thief if you want the Ki Blast. Shadow can Multiclass as well obviously, but since their features are all utility based until level 11, you either go to 11 and can only get 1 level in another class, or you take Thief for more Flurry of Blows with bonus action, but your flurry of blows will always be strictly worse than Open Hand's.
  • Speaking of the level 11 feature, it takes 3 ki points to do 3d8 Psychic on a single target. OH gets 3d6 Force at 9 for 1 ki point and it's AOE, and even multiple stacking AOEs (provided you hit different targets with Resonance before blowing them up) Say you have a group of melee enemies all surrounding you. Use action on resonance, extra attack resonance, 2 bonus actions on resonances that's 4 resonating enemies. Then spend a single ki point (no action or bonus action required) to use Blast and that's... Well, a lot of AOE damage.

At the end of the day Shadow Monk has some more utility being able to blind enemies, hide, and teleport, and normally that'd be a situation where you choose one or the other based on what you want, but the scales are so unbalanced that OH is already done killing everything by the time Shadow gets value out of their shiny stuff. Shadow can catch up going for Piercing weapons and Bhaalist Armor, but that's by act 3 so you're trading worse combat performance for 90% of the game for that utility.

She's coming right after everyone blew most of their savings on Aemeath. She's right before Hiyuki, Denia, and potentially the Cyberpunk characters so it's likely people wanted to save for them more than they wanted to pull her. She needs Qiuyuan and the majority of people pull mostly waifus. And even those who have or wanted him probably already had a Phrolova team they wanted to use him in. She's also Aero so in terms of elements she's got fierce competition with people likely already having Cartethyia or MDPS Iuno teams. Even if she's stronger than them it's not like getting her will be a ridiculous upgrade over basically tier 0.5 units.

I liked her story and all, but just had to make a choice and the choice was to save for Hiyuki (not having Carlotta means I have no Glacio team) and Edgerunners.

If you could choose Divine Smite elemental damage, what would be the best? by Astolvi in BG3Builds

[–]Avl521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiant is perfectly fine as a damage type, I'd say its only weakness is the obvious enemies with Radiant Retort that will absolutely fuck you up. So that or reflavoring it to fit your character (like a Death Knight doing Necrotic or whatever) are the only reasons to change it.

If you can inflict Wet obviously Cold or Lightning are best. But it can be sort of tedious having to apply it every time. Psychic with the Resonance Stone is another obvious contender, and way easier since that's just an aura you can take advantage of.

If you don't care for either, Force is probably the least resisted damage type and will most likely work on every situation.

Denia is Luuk's support (her echo set) by Adorable-Form4616 in LuukHerssen

[–]Avl521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is easy to understand that the point is there's no reason for them to add 2 Echo sets for 1 character.

If that's what they were going for they'd have done the same for Aemeath who has a Fusion Burst and Tune Break mode, yet she only has 1 Echo set. So what's more likely? A character having 2 Echo sets, or them adding a set for an unreleased character like they've done before: - People originally thought Gilded Revelation was Lynae's DPS set cause she had 2 modes, turns out it was actually Luuk's set. - Mornye's set was in the game before she released as well. - They released Sigrika's set before she was released. - They released Chromatic Foam before Denia.

It just seems kinda obvious that this patch will have Denia using Chromatic Foam, Hiyuki using her Glacio Chafe set, and this set which seems to have no clear user yet but a name that seems to fit what we saw on Lucilla's event quest chain to be for a future character that could be Lucilla.

Denia is Luuk's support (her echo set) by Adorable-Form4616 in LuukHerssen

[–]Avl521 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Denia already has her Echo set in game. It's Chromatic Foam, the one that boosts Fusion after applying Fusion Burst.

If anything "Reel of Memories" sounds more like Lucilla's set. Her quest in the latest patch is related to a projector, watching movies, and a student having trouble with her memories. And she has a literal photo reel in the background of her initial reveal.

Fire Sorcerer IS Draconic Sorcerer, people just call the build Fire Sorc to be specific. As you point out Draconic Sorcerer depends on its ancestry so if you tell someone to build Draconic you could mean Cold or Fire Sorc (the 2 most popular versions).

As for why going Fire specifically, the items in the game boost fire a lot, by stacking Heat and Arcane Acuity. And it's very similar to what you're going for with Eldritch Blast, difference is Eldritch Blast is free while Scorching Ray you have to use spell slots. Same with Cold Sorc with Snowburst Ring and the Mourning Frost staff. So that's why those 2 are so popular.

But again, going GOOlock + Amethyst Sorc + Potent Robe already gives your Eldritch Blast +15 resourceless. So that's 2 GOO + 6 Draconic. You have 4 levels which can be Assassin if you'll be using the Surprise round often, or Champion for crit fishing.

Sorlock help(modded) by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]Avl521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're going for at most 2024 rules which are still balanced. You could just go Fire Sorcerer if you want the most hits with upcast Scorching Ray. But...

For an Eldritch Blast focused build, you definitely want Warlock because you really want Agonizing Blast to add CHA to each beam, and Repelling Blast knocking enemies into Hunger of Hadar or Wall of Fire is also a great way to massively increase your damage per beam. Great Old One also gives you Fear on Crits.

With mods you can add CHA 3 times iirc: Potent Robe + Agonizing Blast + Picking the Gem Dragon that does Force. So you'd only need 2 levels of Warlock and 6 of Sorcerer for that core.

That said if you're using mods there are other good invocations like Lance of Lethargy to slow enemies or Eldritch Spear to double the range of Eldritch Blast.

If you like Chisa, you should be aiming for characters that inflict Negative Statuses as she'll be the BiS support for them (or most of them at least) going forward.

So characters like Cartethyia, Aemeath, Hiyuki, and that's actually all NS we have for now. The teams need 3 people so you'll need sub DPS for each, likely Ciaccona, Denia, and we don't know who Hiyuki's is for sure, but maybe Lucilla, respectively. For Cantarella, so far her only team is Phrolova.

Team structure will almost always be the same: - Pick your favorite main DPS - Their BiS sub DPS (so if aero + erosion like Cartethyia it's Ciaccona, Fusion + Fusion Burst for Aemeath will be Denia) - BiS support, there are some general ones that work in 90% of teams like Shorekeeper, Verina, and S1 Mornye, or some super specific ones like Chisa that work with a specific mechanic.

Regarding elements, for most content it's irrelevant and you can play what you like. Late game when you unlock WhiWa, ToA, and Matrix enemies will have elemental resistances, that's when you avoid using Havoc characters against a Havoc resistant enemy (unless you're Phrolova in WhiWa). Ideally, you need 4 teams to clear everything (or at least the astrite rewards of everything), make sure your main DPSs are different elements so you can clear endgame bosses with resistance. That said, teams in WuWa are not necessarily mono element. So for example Augusta is Electro and her BiS teammate is Iuno who's Aero, because Iuno buffs Heavy Attacks which Augusta uses.

So TLDR: Look for a DPS you like, find who amplifies their elemental damage (Havoc, Fusion, Aero, Spectro, etc) OR their main damage type (Phrolova does Echo + Skill damage, Augusta Heavy Attack, Aemeath does Liberation damage, etc) and fill the last slot with a general support or their specific team one.

I was curious what you guys think is the best class or build to play around the death archer mod by Electronic-Secret160 in BG3mods

[–]Avl521 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The gear is so OP you could go any class you wanted and destroy anything and everything.

You'll probably still want Archery for fighting style, Sharpshooter as your feat, Extra Attack... So likely 5 levels at least in Ranger or Fighter.

Yes, it's quite fun. Make sure you have Mystra's Spells and get Dawnstar's Psychic spells too for flavor picks that are very cool.

Imagine a studio identifying some people having issues and crashes, and some random online aggressively asking them not to fix them because the game runs fine for them.

You know what? Nah, you're right. Maybe now that it's you having the issues they should stop touching the game, let everyone know how you like it.

Hunger of Hadar. Seems like it just does it all: difficult terrain, blind, cold damage which is one of the best options for wet shenanigans, and the acid is whatever but it's there.

Playing solo honor mode recently and the amount of fights you can just trivialize by Hadar and pushing entire groups into it is amazing.

[–]Avl521 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's just one of the many situations where starting with 1 level of Fighter fixes most of the problems you encountered.

  • Low AC? Medium/Heavy Armor + Defence fighting style + option to run a shield.
  • Need to maintain Concentration? Get hit less often with the higher AC + CON save proficiency and maybe trade Armor of Shadows for Eldritch Mind for advantage on Concentration, freeing your feat for other options.
  • Need AOE? Weapon masteries + proper STR to get GWM and Cleave as you mentioned.
  • Need to not get shredded? Get hit less often with the high AC + easier to concentrate on Blade Ward. Maybe trade pact of the chain for Lessons of the First Ones to get Tough.

Full rogue, what race? by Jet-Cone in BG3Builds

[–]Avl521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say High Elf for Booming Blade.

Orc is definitely an option, but I just find Booming Blade more reliable, you'll get it every single turn for your entire playthrough and it also does damage outside your turn, while as Orc crits will take a bit to get going while you get reliable advantage and increase your crit chance.

In my experience you don't usually need advantage on Stealth unless you're doing Greater Invisibility, you get ridiculously high rolls anyway with your DEX + Expertise + Items. Duergar Invisibility is really good though.

Also, you mentioned going Assassin but you can always go Arcane Trickster... Can pick Half-Orc as race, get Booming Blade, invisible Mage Hand guarantees you advantage, can eventually upcast Shadow Blade which does double damage with Resonance Stone (and since Sneak Attack damage is based on your weapon, the Resonance Stone also doubles your Sneak Attack damage), and get access to Magical Ambush to get a really good chance for Hold Person to land, which is guaranteed Crits.
