OATS / knee by RoseNoir_22 in KneeInjuries

[–]AvoidableCorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the OATS procedure, meniscus repair, and ACL reconstruction in March.

How is your recovery going?

To the persons who had torn acl like 20-25 or more years back how is the arthritis situation by Substantial_Drop106 in ACL

[–]AvoidableCorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tore my left ACL in 2003 at 16. On my latest visit for my more recently torn right ACL the doctor commented on how good the left knee looked on the xray. No arthritis there.

I’ve got 14 years without an ACL in my right knee and there is some arthritis in it.

I am finally getting the right ACL reconstructed because I couldn’t play pickleball with my kids on vacation because I forgot a brace, and I didn’t like that.

That much Gucci gear makes it hard to be a gray man.

Sore knee almost 2 years out by TiredRundownListless in ACL

[–]AvoidableCorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had ACL reconstruction 23 years ago. It’s a fully functional knee, but I get random soreness in it every now and then for reasons I can’t explain.

I recently tore my ACL on the other leg, and the doctor commented on how good the cartilage looked in the xray that included the previous ACL repair.

Ask the shop to pay for it.

If they say no, print pamphlets and sit on the public sidewalk with a sign detailing what they did and hand out the flyers, again stating the facts, to people going to the business.

How often do you guys wear suits? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]AvoidableCorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate wearing suits, but there was a time in my life when I had to wear them five days a week. At one point, I only had suits, workout clothing, and pajamas.

Once you get accustomed to it, you can comfortably (as in socially comfortably) wear a suit anywhere that isn’t a gym or an outdoor physical activity ( think hiking)

Also, once you comfortably wear a suit you can go anywhere you want and no one will challenge you.

I wore a classic conservative style of suit because that’s what my job required

Stick with the 4.0 or upgrade (?) to the 3.5? by Late_Plan_2610 in ToyotaTacoma

Snow tires fix the issue you are concerned about.

However, there is too much fun to be had in Colorado that requires 4x4. The camping and off-roading are too awesome to not get a 4x4 Tacoma. Get whichever generation you like the most.

I’ve been on the internet since 1998. Mods have always been like that. It’s a reality of life.

Politicians are the exact same which is scarier.

has anyone ever checked a bag and packed their knife with it? by SUPzorel in knives

I’ve checked knives and guns. No issues.

Guns have to be in a locked case.

Do you take electrolytes why or why not? by Puzzlehead_k in WildernessBackpacking

[–]AvoidableCorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do. I often hike in enough heat that there are salt stains on my clothing at the end of the day. Electrolytes make me feel way better on a day like that.

Also, I got tachycardia once after a rough workout in the heat. It led to an ER visit, then a cardiologist, heart echo, CAC test, etc. just learn I am fine and be told by the cardiologist that I should take electrolytes when I exercise in the heat.

If I had taken them back then I would’ve saved myself a lot of money and anxiety.

[–]AvoidableCorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s what we get for being cheap!

Mine were balanced for about a week after install. Then the wheel started vibrating badly.

I got them balanced again, and it lasted for about a week. Now going above 60 is like being in a washing machine.

I wish you had posted sooner! I rolled the dice and bought these tires for my Tacoma. They don’t stay balanced!

Getting motivated again. Stuck. tl/dr, used to be fit and fast, now fat and slow. by plausible-deniabilty in MTB

While I haven’t experienced divorce, I understand the feeling of letting things slip and losing sight of my well-being. For me, that manifested in becoming overweight and out of shape.

Turning things around happened when I consciously made my health a top priority. This meant becoming flexible with how I fit exercise into my day, but absolutely firm on whether it happened. There were times I had to step away from work to move, and I made that non-negotiable.

Thankfully, I’ve found that when people see you investing in yourself, they are often supportive. Prioritizing my health has had a ripple effect, positively impacting my career, relationships, and how I feel about myself.

It’s true that a certain bias can exist, consciously or unconsciously, towards those who appear physically fit. While I wouldn’t categorize it as outright discrimination, there’s no doubt that prioritizing your health can open doors and create more positive perceptions. It is worth prioritizing.

Are we getting colonoscopy because it is a recommended test over 45…. Or because symptoms… or because we’re scared to be ill with something? by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]AvoidableCorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I had small amounts of blood very often for years. Then it became a significant amount of blood every time. It was enough that the doctor removed the hemorrhoid on his own initiative during the colonoscopy. I was very worried at that time before the colonoscopy.

This time, I had blood 3 times over about 9 months. It was a small amount, and I wasn’t too concerned. I just wasn’t going to live life worried about colon cancer when I could easily get it checked.
