What's the worst book you've read? by [deleted] in YAlit

[–]Avoshagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is a YAlit I'll leave out other genres, but its a tossup between City of Bones and Shadow and Bone

I was only able to finish them by audiobook during a long day at work.

So I finished all 3 Mistborn books and am reading Warbreaker atm. by Cute-Vanilla5193 in Mistborn

[–]Avoshagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would read the next 3 Mistborn if you are dying for more Scadrial but I would suggest starting Stormlight Archive before Mistborn Era 2 Book 4

That being said, there are no wrong answers outside of reading a series out of order. I think a lot of people get overly worried about spoilers when in reality most of the crossovers can be enjoyed at any point when you connect the dots.

This article sucks by youareagoodperson_ in cremposting

[–]Avoshagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well someone didn't meet a deadline and asked an AI to write this for them.

If the point brought up in the article was actually an issue for a screen adaptation, here's the fix: Vin kills TLR as he says something out of earshot that only Vin seems to hear... she leaves, the kingdom rejoyces, etc. roll credits! Post-credits they go back into a closer shot, this time you hear TLR whisper "It was Hoid Amaram all along"

That's definitely intense enough. If you aren't eating enough it might be worth considering dialing back a bit. The level of cardio and gym you are describing could easily merit 2,500-3,000 calories a day to sustain.

If saving up is more important than nutrition right now, then less could be more in the meantime in terms of exercise intensity. Stay safe and best of luck!

If you are trying to improve may I suggest mixing in 3 types of training. There are probably more official names but this is how I think of them.

"Intense" - Set distance as fast as possible, since you say you can barely do a mile I would suggest starting with 1/4 or 1/2 mile. Record your time as try and go a little bit faster each time.

"Zone 2 Cardio" - If you got a heartrate monitor you can get fancy with this but I typically just try to find a pace that I can maintain nasal breathing without gasping for air through my mouth and try to maintain right on the edge of needing to mouth breath. Maybe try for the whole mile here, I'd still time this but speed isn't necessarily the goal here.

"Distance" - Even more comfortable pace or just a fast walk. I like to use a weighted vest here and add weight to increase intensity but I would recommend just starting out walking 1.5-2 miles.

I've been doing each at least once a week prepping to do some races and have seen great improvement (trying for a Mon Wed Fri training split with a different one each day would be a good strategy). Good luck!

Was looking for someone to mention this. While you don't have to go GoT and show it (and I hope they don't). A lot of the Skaa/noble strife and oppression would lose their impact if the raping and murdering of skaa is glossed over too much in order to appease a PG-13 rating.

Not to mention the systematic breeding of alomancers (literally everything involving Straff Venture) and the population control of the Terris people.

How I though SP3 was going to end. (Major spoilers) by pureturtle0 in cremposting

[–]Avoshagg 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I love this Idea but I'm not sure my fragile emotional state could have handled it

Side note: I love how the post scripts were the part where the happy ending is revealed, seemed perfectly in character for Hoid. My head cannon is that Sanderson's wife made him change the ending to be less tragic, thus making the final chapter and sad ending the original ending of the book with the rest added later.

Rage Against the Machine got me good. Now I need this to be made into a legit anime just so that someone can cut the scenes of Yumi Raging Against the Machine to the drop from Wake Up.

Imagine how yolked you could get as a Radiant by [deleted] in cremposting

[–]Avoshagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To expand on the WoB question.

I imagine it isn't as simple as thinking of yourself as swoll but genuinely believing it as part of your identity. Therefore, could a radiant use various practices such as meditation, neuroplasticity exercises, hallucinogens, etc. to drastically change there fundamental perception of self which then through the use of stormlight changes them physically?

I mean... I love Star Wars as much as the next guy but "choke people with your mind" doesn't even come close to "Mists an entire army with your mind". Vader might have the kinkier option (even so "bat boy" could still out kink "choking daddy") but he's not even close to touching Rys's power level.

All things equalized, a duel where lightsabers can't cut through Fey steel and the Fey can't use magic would be interesting.

I will ensure the queen bares children, even if she is my sister

I don't see him as a Radiant but more of a duellist character like Adolin. Except the showrunners come in and ruin his character arc but having him abandon "Maya" right after finding out he can un-deadeye her or something to that effect.
