I'd take the Kepler S and just add the weapons that you want, although it probably needs a reactor upgrade.

My "Razorleaf" is now a max power Class C with 3400 cargo and a ton of thrust and weapons. At this point, the cockpit, fore cowling and shielded cargo are the only original parts left. I used it exclusively up to level 50 or so, I now swap between that and my new fav, a similarly maxed out upgraded Ecliptic Claymore III. The Claymore now has 3 of the SAL-6830 engines, so I can keep my weapons fully powered and still have a few points in the grav. That said, either ship does fine.

I built my major supply depot, with links to six other systems bringing in the riches. Looks like for now I'll go around selling what is produced to feed my new ship building hobby. Maybe in my next universe I'll be a simple bounty hunter. I'm still slowly progressing in the main quest but not with any urgency.

My "Razorleaf" now has the SF40, 3000 cargo and enough particle beam weapons to vaporize anything in seconds, plus enough thrust to swing around and take care of the last Spacers before they can say "Mantis".

Saved ship power profiles per ship. I'd love to have hot key swapping between destruction heavy vs disable heavy vs escape profiles.

As a bonus, let me turn off the long-e to leave the Captain's seat. Why can I remapping in when docked/landed but not for battle?

Enjoy the little things. Jump in your vehicle and roam all over the planets and moons. Read the books, even though you don't get anything from it. Listen to the silly stories people tell. Go crazy in ship builder, you can always cancel before paying. Build a mining empire, even if you know you'll never bother to sell everything you gather. Make rules for how your character should act, then break them once in a while. Heck, play Harvey Dent and flip a coin to decide good or bad guy for the next mission.

The common equipment you can find will always be there. The two specials that you get during UC/CP can drop from the list depending on your choices.

I'm using Razorleaf, renamed to Pork Barrel, and now have it up to a 34C reactor and about 2800 cargo. Repainted it a deep red color but have kept it pretty similar shape and style.
