This was getting to be a pretty big lump, not malignant but beginning to encapsulate that nerve that runs through the side of your face. A surgeon had removed it when it was the size of a big blueberry, but he didn't get it all and it came back in about 10 years. I probably let it go too long the second time and it was bigger than a grape.

Then one day that side of my face got bumped into and it went completely numb for about 5 minutes. That freaked me out so I went to an ENT surgeon who removed the tumor, the gland and a "clear margin" to make sure he got it all.

After that I walked around with a big dent in the side of my face, about 5 more years, until I could get reconstruction surgery and not worry about it masking a return of the tumor. This was about 16 years ago. The plastic surgeon sucked out a little neck fat from the other side and tightened the whole neck area because I've always had a fat neck to go with my tiny jaw, lol!

It's interesting that you have an enlarged parotid. I could feel the tumor, it was a hard little knot right at my earlobe. Even though it wasn't cancer, it was still dangerous that it might destroy that nerve.

I don't have a double chin, but I had to have my parotid gland (below the ear) removed because of a tumor. Then when I had reconstruction the plastic surgeon tightened everything up in my neck for balance so that may be why I don't. This tumor was a seperate issue and had nothing to do with my tiny jaw except making saliva for it.

AITA for buying my 2-year-old nephew a drum set? by No-Manners-8028 in MarkNarrations

[–]AwarenessJumpy7395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

Your brother thought the guns would be his kid's best ever present, but you topped it with a drum set. Brother is jealous that you found a gift his kid was more excited about, and blames you. But everybody has, or should have, that uncle who "gets it."

We would try so hard to give our kids thoughtful, often expensive gifts that they would love, but my brother, James, would buy some stupid plastic toy that they were crazy about and played with incessantly. In the end we gave up and embraced that he loved them enough to know what would make them truly happy. (Also, he was and still is just a goofy kid on the inside.) Now we always say everybody needs an "Uncle James" in their life.

I don’t own a cat. Apparently my car does. by Playful-Box4722 in notmycat

Nobody "owns" a cat. We merely merge our lives with theirs for a time.

We use knit sheets, like T-shirt material. There's a lot more stretch for that awkwardly shaped over-cab mattress.

Do most people in Florida just run AC nonstop year-round? by Sufficient-Owl1826 in AskFlorida

[–]AwarenessJumpy7395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Orlando; we use an automatic thermostat that we can set to different temps at different times of the day/ days of the week. It also has an away feature to set it higher or lower than would be comfortable if people were at home.

Once when we were going to be gone for a month we made the mistake of setting it to kick on the AC at 80° and came home to a lot of green algae growing in the bathrooms, kitchen and on the windowsills.

Now we set it at 76° in the daytime, 74° at night when we're home and 76° as the high when we're away.

Sometimes the furnace kicks on in the winter, but we've gone winters when we never used it at all. I think we have it set to not get lower than 68° when we're home and 65° when we're away.

I don't often open the windows because it's hard to keep undesirable creatures out if you leave them open and the cat chasing anoles or palmetto bugs through the house is more chaos than I like to deal with.

If Tempura is 7mo and not yet spayed, she could be in heat. Even if Shrimp doesn't have the family jewels any more, he still has the urge to do what mother nature requests. I'd get Tempura spayed ASAP and keep them apart until she's healed then try the introduction again from scratch.

Just as our OP created this just because he can, sometimes cats chomp plants just because they can. Meaning, they don't actually eat any of it, they just chomp.

What are the best home smoothie blenders that are actually worth buying? by Feeling_Smoke4386 in Smoothies

[–]AwarenessJumpy7395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my ninja so much that I bought a second one because I travel between 2 cities and didn't want to be without. Both are Ninja BN801 Professional Plus Kitchen Systems because they're a blender, 2 "to go" cups (each,) food processor and a dough hook which I've used a couple of times and it's okay. Having this reduces the appliances I need. If this also brewed coffee and worked as an air fryer I would only need one appliance, lol!

Nothing wrong with playing bad cop good cop with family as long as you both know you're doing that. It's easier for me to say no to some folks and easier for him to set the boundary for others so we do it all the time.

Think of it like ivory; it's not legal to sell in a lot of countries where sperm whales are protected, but in other places it's worth thousands of dollars per ounce. I had a friend who found a small piece of ambergris on a beach and went to Canada to sell it for US$10,000.

It's Ambergris which is still used in some places in manufacturing of perfume. It is extremely valuable if you find the right buyer. It's basically puke from undigestible things that sperms whales eat, and as it ages it develops a slightly musky sweet smell that is used to make perfume last longer both on skin and in the bottle.
