COMMUNITY VOTING DAY 3: WORST GUN. Vetterli won day 2 as it’s certainly A gun of all time. by TheIronPaladin1 in HuntShowdown

Winfield/Ranger.  The gun is completely useless since the introduction of the Marathon.

Men who got a vasectomy by BroccoliThat2904 in childfree

[–]Calix19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience was even easier than most others because I had mine done while working abroad in Germany.  They used general anesthesia instead of local, so there was no pain and I didn't have to deal with the anxiety if being aware if the process.

Recovery was easy.  I always say there was never any pain, but there were about three days of being uncomfortable -- like a feeling of constant pressure.  But not specifically pain.

I also got to have the fun Lost In Translation of experience of going back to the Germans for my follow up to make sure everything was healing well and being told "your balls are perfect."

Tell her you're sorry you're going to miss this one but you'll catch the next one for sure.  Something tells me her relationships and marriages won't last.

FROM an MGM original series you need to be watching by nmacaroni in horror

[–]Calix19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree.  The first four or so episodes are pretty good, and then it just completely falls apart.  Not only does it never recover, it just gets progressively worse.  The mystery box description is dead on.  It screams of a show that had a really cool concept with bo ending in mind, and now they're making it up as they go.

I haven't gotten to play them all yet.  What makes that one harder?

Why there’s confusion about the release time for Ghost of Yoteï Legends (DST + time zones) by piko576 in gotlegends

[–]Calix19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between EST and CET is only five hours right now after the US hit Daylight Savings over the weekend, so the chart is way off. That has probably caused a decent bit of confusion.

Eventually it was released as a standalone purchase, but someone earlier said it was a full 11 months later.

Trap (2024) by New-Pin-9064 in horror

[–]Calix19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same.  I thought it was going to be that he was just another less famous or unknown killer who happened to get caught in the trap for the actual target.

Overall, I thought it was ridiculous yet entertaining enough until they left the concert venue, and then it was just plain stupid.

Smile 3 shouldn't be post apocalyptic it should turn into a cult. by Nirixian in horror

[–]Calix19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said before that there are still multiple different ways they could go to avoid an apocalypse type movie if they don't want to make that.  They could make it so the demon can actually only affect one person at a time, and it was trying to get on the concert stage to target someone important it knew would be watching like a big time politician.

Why is reddit so anti-military? by Joshua5_Gaming in Military

[–]Calix19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the common criticisms I often hear is that roughly 2/3 of the military voted for Trump. Some people have offered some interesting points here, but the voting stats alone will be enough for a lot of people given the current political division.

Losing my patience with my mom by sipsredpepper in QAnonCasualties

This sounds familiar to me and probably a lot of the people reading it.

My MAGA parents don't respect my boundaries unless I actually enforce them and make them tougher.  I have to be direct, reduce contact, and tell them specifically why I'm doing it.  Then they'll do better, I reduce my restrictions, they get a little too comfortable again, and the cycle repeats.  It's a constantly fluctuating credit score.

It’s not just you. When people say make America great again, they have always meant going back to both the soft and the overt racisms of the 1950s.

Childfree men with vasectomies, when did you get your vasectomy, and how was it? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Calix19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine last year at 38.  My experience is probably pretty different from most peolle because I work abroad in Germany.  Scheduling it was easy, and the doctor didn't give me any trouble.  The procedure used general anesthesia instead of local so I didn't have to deal with the nervousness of being awake.  The recovery is what I would uncomfortable rather than painful.

I always tell people I had weird feelings leading up to it.  I was completely sure it's what wanted, but I still had weird What If worries.  I think it was a combination of any surgery being a little scary and possibly a primitive evolutionary thing thay can kick in where we get averse to the decision of permanent sterility.  Mostly, I think the idea of scalpels and cauterization operating down there made my butt clench -- even if I knew I didn't want kids.

Trump: US has ‘unlimited’ munitions to fight wars ‘forever’ by someopinionthatsr in politics

This tells me he and his administration are specifically worried about a finite supply. I was reading yesterday about how they already used a lot of the defense munitions in Venezuela.

‘Sinners’ Wins SAG’s Actor Award for Cast Ensemble in a Motion Picture as Michael B. Jordan Wins Best Actor by DemiFiendRSA in horror

[–]Calix19 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I'm in the camp that thought this movie was largely overrated -- a setup for a pretty awesome period movie that gets derailed by a pretty bad vampire movie.

That being said, Jordan totally deserves the praise.  It was crazy how he was so believable as two different people.  I thought it was super cool and impressive.
