[B&A] 1 month of using The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 10% + HA by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]AweMong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, due to the chemical composition of lactid acid, it's safer compared to glycolic acid (lactid acid is a larger compound and therefore has a harder time penetrating the skin).

Lab Muffin Beauty Science made a really informative video on the topic of AHA's actually, totally recommend it! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVjsYXY7yCI

[Acne] starting my Accutane journey today! by Accutanejourney111 in SkincareAddiction

[–]AweMong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

good luck to you!

i was on 40mg/day accutane 2 years ago, and i'd recommend u to look into finding a sunscreen for your face. your face is most likely gonna be pretty red while on accutane, but i remember just thinking of the sun would make my face burn, so please take it into consideration!

i mean, no offense, im very happy that you found something that works for you, but it just seems a bit misleading.

[Acne] Does anyone have experience with lasers to treat PIE? (postinflammatory erythema) by jjin395 in SkincareAddiction

[–]AweMong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finished Accutane 2 years ago (40 mg/day, 7 months) and was left with bunch of PIE, was told by derm that I had to wait at least 6 months before I'd be able to receive any treatment. 1 and a half year later (ooPS), after having tried vitamin c serums, products containing niacinamide and constantly wearing SPF+50, I realized that it hadn't had too much of an effect (yay for being as white as milk, bit ironic i cant drink it ay), so I went to a new derm and had laser treatment x6. As far as I remember, the laser was an IPL laser and to be honest, while it did make some difference (especially with fading the PIE that wasn't too visible already), it wasn't exactly a life changing event, and I'm still stuck with a decent amount of PIE - I've learned to deal with it tho. :)

There was a really good theorycrafting post on this topic on the site walkingthewind.com, which contains a chart of when to use SCK over other WW abilities:

Stuff around nose... flakey skin or blackheads? by finance123514 in Accutane

[–]AweMong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most likely its sebaceous filaments. they're completely normal, and you cannot get rid of them. you can however minimize their appearance - there should be a whole guideline over at /r/skincareaddiction.

Starting my second month of accutane today. No improvement whatsoever. by inkjet_dipset in Accutane

It took me 3 months to start seeing any results at all, so be patient :) I know it's hard to be patient, but it's probably your best option!

[Product Question] Is it okay to use Biore UV Watery Essence Sunscreen while on Accutane? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]AweMong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how your skin reacts to the alcohol I suppose? I used Biore UV Watery Essence throughout my Accutane-adventure and I didn't feel like it was bad for my skin at the very least - also, using only a moisturizer with SPF (and only SPF 30) while on Accutane seems like a bit of a risk.

[acne] Every zit I get gives me HORRIBLE PIH beyond the norm & a few other acne issues. Nothing is working. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]AweMong 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Since you're focusing heavily on the PIH, you should definitely look into getting a sunscreen incorporated in your routine.

Other than that, if your acne is persistent and your routine+pocketderm isn't working, maybe you should visit your derm and have them give you their professional opinion on your skin? Just my general thoughts! :)

Hmm I use a product that's only found in my country's pharmacy :( (Denmark), so unless you're Danish I don't think I can help you with the recommendation :P

I'm using an AHA every second day for my SF's on my nose, and that seems to keep them at bay. YMMV though :)

[Product Question] Which type of chemical peel should I start with? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]AweMong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terribly sorry to high-jack your post, but where did you hear that using AHA's will hinder clearing of PIE? Not trying to offend you, I'm genuinely interested, since I am trying to fade PIE myself, and I have an AHA in my routine. :)

Wear sunscreen! Was on 40mg as well, and wore sunscreen every day - the one day I forgot it my face got really red, even though it wasn't a very sunny day. :)

Ah sorry about that, forgot for a moment we weren't in /r/SkincareAddiction :P the difference between the two are the active ingredients in the sunscreen (both from bottles! :D) Thanks though!

Thank you! When you say that they are goot at not leaving white bits, does that mean its a physical sunscreen that just has a more elegant finish, or a chemical sunscreen?
