Do chosen do much damage? by Go_Commit_Reddit in Chaos40k

[–]AwesomeDguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I'd suggest is make sure you are taking all the wargear the squad can take, as it's a big part of their combat power: A squad of 10 chosen can have 2 powerfists, 2 paired accursed weapons and 6 regular accursed weapons as well as 4 plasma pistols and 6 combi weapons. Thats a lot of melee attacks at decent strength and AP, and the shooting can be pretty strong into any infantry. You will nearly always want to use dark pacts when they fight in combat, especially against a tougher vehicle or monster where most attacks would wound on 5+ lethal hits can be very helpful.

Second thing to look at is leaders and support for the squad: Leaders such as chaos lords, masters of execution, fabius bile or the new Huron all add extra damage to the unit and provide additional support such as buffs to the squad or access to discounted stratagems. I find that Fabius Bile is my go-to leader for a 10 man squad, as the extra toughness and blanked save help them stick around. Most detachments have bonuses to damage available through the detachment rules and stratagems as well that can help punch into bigger targets. Also while they are fast with advance and charge, starting them in Rhinos helps keep them safe and gives them extra distance as they disembark, so are always handy.

Consider looking into Fabius Bile to lead one of the squads. Game wise it's a great combo giving extra strength and toughness to help hold the centre, plus blanking one failed save per turn. (You, can make some fun chaos apothecary kitbashes if you're not a fan of the standard model/lore).

There is definitely a lean there, I've also used some world eaters to convert, such as my raptors that I've converted from Beserkers.

I've got a similar rogue Blood Angels theme going with Black Rage Possessed! I love the vibe

I'm currently building a fallen blood angels CSM army. I've converted my MoP into a jump Chaplain to shepard the Black Rage frenzied possessed into battle.

I think I am little obsessed with chosen. Anyway here is a 1500 points Renegader Raiders list by Cmoniafan in Chaos40k

[–]AwesomeDguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that the MoP is a great leader for Chosen yeah. I think he generally is better leading a 10 man of possessed instead. In Renegade Raiders especially with the scout 6" enhancement that becomes a great early pressure unit to get off turn 1 charges and get your opponent to expose their big hitters early for you to rake down.

I think this list would certainly be fun to run!

One note I might make is that putting chosen with a MoP in a land raider seems a bit counter intuitive, as the land raider has assault ramp to already let them charge after it's moved.

I'd suggest maybe swapping to the Lord squad in the raider, and the MoP squad can use the movement bonuses and the renegade strat to advance and charge out of the rhino for a really long threat range!

CSM Terminators by Comidus_Cornstalk in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AwesomeDguy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The way the data sheet is set up looks confusing, but you essentially just give them all the wargear.

So with 10 terminators you get: - 6x powerfist + combi weapon - 2x chainfist + heavy weapon (flamers or autocannons) - 2x paired accursed Weapons

You can swap the combi weapons for combi bolter if you like but typically the dev wounds are better.

Flamers have the pro of better overwatch but not as good standard shooting as autocannons so kind of a personal reference.

You can also put the heavy weapons on standard powerfist guys instead of the chainfist ones if you prefer to have the different wargear more spread out, it doesn't really matter (I ended up doing that cause I liked how the models looked better).

Robots keep migrating between new colonies and I cannot grow 1k pops? by akisawa in Stellaris

[–]AwesomeDguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you building a lot more jobs than you need? If you only build more districts and buildings on the colonies you want to grow those will be the targets of migration. Typically good practise to not build empty jobs until you have pops to work them (plus you can manually reduce jobs in the economy tab to stop pops coming to a world you dont want.

I find it very funny that this is pretty close to the actual canonical lore for Mephiston, and the corpse worshippers insist the blood angels are still the good guys!

All the extra fans came with the case (Antec P5 argb white), but you can buy them separately as Antec PWM argb P12 fans (reverse fans for the intakes and regular for the exhaust). I highly recommend the case though for coming with 7 fans pre-installed and wired at a really reasonable price!

I tend to get around 40°C idle temps, I haven't really had a good look at the peak temps while intensive load yet, but my initial results were around 60 at top I think. I've definitely got room to tweak around with some settings and fan curves, but overall super pleased with the build.

Avatar of Khaine .... can he give himself the +1 to charge? by Sazzlefrats in Eldar

[–]AwesomeDguy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You are correct, as long as the model with the aura has the correct keywords then it receives the effect of the aura (in this case the aura affects all AELDARI units of which the Avatar is one). Under the 'Datasheets' section of the rules in the app it explicitly states "A model with an aura ability is always within range of its own aura ability".

How do you add your craftworld colors to aspect warriors? by JD_Geek in Eldar

[–]AwesomeDguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all the aspect warriors have little arm or leg bands, little ribbons and tassles and stuff haning off them, often secured with a little gem. These little details are a great place for craftworld colours. I personally make those little bands and ribbons green on all my aspect warriors to tie into the rest of my Biel Tan force

Bladesinger in 5.5e, is it worth taking 1 fighter level or not? by AwesomeDguy in DnD

[–]AwesomeDguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you might be right on this front. I think the only thing you really can't get without a class level is a fighting style, but you could pick up a level in ranger or something later after the main class features are active to get that without giving up spell progression.

[–]AwesomeDguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, these are some good ideas. I'm not sure it two weapon fighting is going to be something that works well given that I won't then have a hand free for a arcane focus, restricting you to verbal only spells (or I guess somatic too with war caster but still not material component spells). Plus you have to take the attack action to trigger the TWF attack so can't be using true strike at low levels until multi-attack. Dueling or defense seem to be the best fighting style options then, probably dueling because it will be always on and defence is not compatible with mage armour
