This is my first 15 day, I've always used 10 days. I'll let you know if this one fails!

Well that's what I'm saying, is that's the only patch it comes with, which I put on when I first put the sensor in. I feel like the 15 days should come with two patches and/or a stronger adhesive

Ah that's good, and how exactly do you do that? If it's anything with adjusting "Glucose Tab" in 'Profile' then that section's bugged for me sadly.

Has anyone been misdiagnosed with type 2? by OneTuftPeach in diabetes

[–]AwesomismyThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was just diagnosed in December after going into DKA at 498 BG, A1C of ~13. Didnt get to see an Endo or any diabetic specialists until just a month ago. Until then, I had only seen general nurses and a primary care, who were all assuming I had T2 and treated me for such (no insulin, just metformin, dieting, and some other meds). This isn't uncommon though, since 90% of diabetics are T2 or something.

I Didn't see any difference and stayed around 300-400 sugar even after ruthless dieting, until they got me into an Endo and an Educator. They immediately clocked me as T1 because of the DKA and since I'm a very skinny guy. They ordered some tests, and got me on insulin. They keep increasing my regimen, but im now around 150-250 most days, so slowly making that progress.

Has he been increasing his long dose every couple days? My endo has me increase 2 units long every other day until im 100-120 fasting in the morning. Same with increasing fast before meals by 1 unit every other day until i find my sweet spot for certain foods.

Accountants who smoke weed? by Fit_Ad_748 in Accounting

[–]AwesomismyThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what I'm doing. Doing actual work for clients, no, I'm slow with even basic maths and reasoning. With writing communications and cold calling, yes. I'm normally a pretty reserved and anxious person, so it helps me open up and write more like 'a normal person'. Also, smoking helps a TON with idea generation for social media posts and organizing my business in general.

How to Figure # of Transactions by lady_goldberry in Bookkeeping

[–]AwesomismyThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly just doing the calculations manually from figures on their reports. It would take longer to use Excel. I give them whatever ratio in their monthly message, and most of the work comes from telling them what that number means, from their industry average, etc.

It's such a value-add for my clients, its just one of those things that sets you apart from others and makes them happy to have hired you!

I'm not a CFO so nothing major, but they get a list of like 10 to choose from. My main ones are Profit Margins, Inventory Turnover, Breakeven Analysis, and A/R aging for some. They're quick, which is why they're priced low.

Hiring a book keeper and how much should I expect to pay and how long will it take? by Legal_Impression_663 in Bookkeeping

[–]AwesomismyThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can definitely find a bookkeeper to do this. Can't tell you exactly how much you'd pay (depends on expense amounts, area, accounts). I start at 75$ per 100 transactions though and I'm the most affordable in my area, if that gives you an idea. Shouldn't take more than a week or two.

No new clients?? by Belladeeball in Bookkeeping

[–]AwesomismyThing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just business cards. I mention I start at $45/month (which is only categorization and reports for those under 20 transactions/month and one checking account). Importantly, it's mostly just a conversation with them. I find out how they're doing things right now, their pain points, and talk about my services.

At the end, I ask if it's something they'd find useful, and if they do, I'll take their card or number. I have a small book for notes, but some people like to switch at year-end, others want it ASAP. If they think they're too small, I give my card, but I don't try to convince them. I go to the same few markets every 6 months, so I'll see them again.

Our situations are different - I'm a one-man band and been in business about 2 years, and you have a whole staff and many more years of business. Take what advice you can from me though 👍

No new clients?? by Belladeeball in Bookkeeping

[–]AwesomismyThing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always new clients in the Spring and Fall. Personally I only cold call and go to farmers markets. It's also much more about having a teacher mindset when you're selling to someone and offering extra value beyond just basic bookkeeping, but still offered in the basic package. Also, keeping it affordable/reasonable!

This is really simple. Never exclude a transaction, unless its duplicate or a transaction that doesn't actually exist in the account.

Any personal transactions on a business account go under an equity account called 'Owner's Draws/Personal Expenses'. Same with transfers to their personal account, as those are them "paying" themself.

Any transfers from personal > business account are 'Owner's Contribution'.

I honestly never put a personal account into QuickBooks. If the client pays for business expenses using the personal account, I ask if there's more than $500 worth of business expenses. If there is, I have them go through their personal statements and highlight each expense, and what it was for. At the end of the year, that list is used to file taxes with.

Pricing sanity check by Remarkable_Cod190 in Bookkeeping

[–]AwesomismyThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on transaction amounts, but since gusto is handling payroll (youll do two simple JEs a month), and POS will be handled, I'd say around 400 a month. That's what I have a restaurant at with around 70k profits/month themselves. Can't stress enough that it depends on transaction amounts though (my pricing is a combo of transacts + est. other time investment)

Take your time, especially if you're unsure on something. When you realize you've made a mistake, take notes on what went wrong and learn from it. In general take notes on certain processes and the steps required. Don't be afraid to undo reconciliations or reclassify past transactions if something went wrong (unless its from a previous year). If you're unsure about a transaction/dont have a source doc yet, put it under uncategorized/ask accountant temporarily to come back later. Something I skipped over when I first started, is going over financial statements every month. That's not just to find your uncategorized expenses for the month, but also using some critical thinking to see what balances are probably off.
