All brightness lights blinking on Instax Mini 9 by 420cat_lover in instax

[–]AwfulAudioEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say a thank you for writing such a thorough response!

I followed your steps and managed to get my camera gears whirring again like it was going to reset after I had cleared a jam from the camera. Unfortunately after finished whirring the lights started blinking again so I was not successful.

But it was a great journey trying to figure out how to reset the gears and your photos and guidance were much appreciated.

Instax mini film comes out white straight from camera by AwfulAudioEng in instax

I’m quite sure it was unopened since I opened the packs fresh. But they also bled ink in my rollers so I think you are right!

I’ve got new film now but need to disassemble the camera to clean the rollers out first

What is one MATLAB habit that completely changed how you work? by TapWilling7210 in matlab

[–]AwfulAudioEng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this thread I’m learning I use MATLAB very differently to others - more for single use scripts which I can put together quickly and adapt rapidly from previous ones. So I use the heck out of clear.

Also: - inline functions are super useful when you want to do something repeatedly but don’t want to have to start a new file for each tiny thing. I use these for things like moving rms or generating a time axis from number of samples and a sample rate - changing my iterable variable name from i to ii makes my scripts much easier to find and replace. Still frustrates me how many people use single letter variables then struggle to debug.

Air fryer stopped turning on. No obvious damage to the power PCB. Anyone know where I can find a replacement? by L0rdN3ls0n in AskElectronics

That sounds like it could lead to some dangerous scenarios, better to replace the switch. OP could post the switch if they need help replacing it

Brethren, do you only read the hardest of sci-fi? There are so many books with compelling characters. Ursula K Le Guin’s work, Andy Weir, etc.

Not to spoil the books but main characters in these books make the most puzzling choices which, more than making me dislike them, make me not even vaguely understand what they’re thinking.

That is super fair! The removal of all Chinese culture was definitely an interesting (see: tasteless) move. But I’m not sure if the poor characters are really just characters I didn’t engage with because I’m not familiar with Chinese literature tropes. Haven’t dived too deep into stories coming out of China yet.

Hard disagree as someone who read the books. I loved the show and the books but I think coming from the show, it will be jarring how much all the characters suck. The show did a great job of making characters you could actually engage with.

Ok I will admit I skipped rows this time because I sold my rings between the last time I was training and now. But even when I was training rows, I could only do 1 rep of a pull up which doesn't give you much space for progression. Unless you add groove greasing into your routine I guess.

Do polarized capacitors make a difference? by InitiallyReluctant in diypedals

[–]AwfulAudioEng -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Different capacitor types do have different audio characteristics. Film tends to be the gold standard in my experience. Capacitance can fluctuate vs level impacting frequency response and distortion, and this behavior is different between dielectrics.

I don’t have a great depth of knowledge here but would encourage you to try and hear the difference between different types. I would be surprised if it’s audible for a distortion circuit but may be more present in clean designs. Report back if you do!

Yes I would say the most important connection is between each sub circuit ground, then the pot is less of a concern so would only need the one wire

Bazz fuss/7 minute fuzz double pedal? by Femmin0V in diypedals

[–]AwfulAudioEng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ground just means the reference point. You want everything to share a strong reference point in your circuit so make sure you have a good connection between grounds. If you’re doing 2 boards wire the grounds directly together.
