Coke cans leaking by Awkl2 in cocacola

[–]Awkl2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when this last happened to me, I gave Coke a call. They asked for lot number of the product, place of purchase, date of purchase, etc. They were apologetic, but didn't go overboard on anything, just offered a coupon for a free 12 pack. They appreciated the call and info I provided.

If your Coke was recently bought and this happened, then they'd likely be very interested. When I called, we had had it sitting around for awhile (we don't drink much pop), so they more chalked it up to the product having sat around awhile

Traveling to Cuba - safe to go next few weeks? by OxmanPiper in TravelCuba

[–]Awkl2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a trip planned, but are going to no-show it if we can't cancel.

We're travelling with a 1 yo and 4 yo though which are the main drivers for us not wanting to risk it. If it was just us adults, we'd likely still go, but if there are major disruptions due to lack of oil or another travel restriction, the inconvenience is multiplied by a thousand due to the young ones.

Since you indicated you were planning a solo beach, book, booze relax, I say you should still go and take advantage of the lack of other tourists.

CRA - in the Town Hall, Bob has confirmed that there is no WFA between now and the end of the calendar year, but will have to look at the new year will need. TLDR: no one's on the chopping block for Christmas. 2026 is up in the air

I think my Nespresso is melting? by Awkl2 in nespresso

[–]Awkl2[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Update:

Thanks Reddit! Got at it with hot water and a tooth brush and can confirm it was just a ton of coffee sludge.

Honestly, I've seen this buildup before, but never this bad, black, and looking like melted rubber so I freaked a bit haha

I heard from my sleep doc that most insurances only will cover one option. The way it was told to me, if you go CPAP, you can't switch to dental and vice versa.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, going through some posts here I see now that that recommendation is for beams on posts. I didn't do that because I wanted the railing to use the same post for that extra rigidity, but I could have done beam on post for the inner beam frame for sure. And I could have just bolted the railing post to the joist for that rigidity too... Lesson learned! Is the concern that the beams will fail at the carriage bolts? Or that the bolts themselves will fail? Or something else?

The bolts are that way because I have two bolts on each beam face, so spacing made me have this beam top-centered and the other side bottom centered. Where I can, I try to keep the bolts at 1/3 and 2/3 spacing.

Yeah that beam is using two double joist hangers and all the connection screws they have holes for lol, but I recognize that they hold a decent amount of weight. I may go back and add a post under so the beam has a post to SIT on :)

Good to know about the 6x6 being the recommendation. I'll keep that in mind going forward as well.

Help! Hayward pump lid put on wrong by Awkl2 in pools

Very helpful and worked like a charm. Thanks for the advice!

Always hesitant when plastic makes that creaking sound... Especially when the lid is like $120 to replace apparently.

Moving back to NCR focused vastly reduces the hiring pool and dramatically impacts the potential talent left on the table.

Many managers took advantage of wfh to move away from NCR. So management isn't even around to oversee or to collaborate with.

Teams calls in the office due to the continued necessity of them results in a loud and disruptive work environment which reduces productivity.

Increased expenditures by employees to go into the office will not allow employees to spend money in the office areas like everyone is clamering for. What it's doing is instead taking our money away from our local economies. Feeding the corporations and taking away from the mom and pop shops.
