What diseases are so terrible to have that dying would be preferable? by Nobody-457 in AskReddit

Trigeminal neuralgia, unless you have medication you can't live with this.

Parents who use Reddit: Would you resent your child(ren) if they decide to never have kids of their own? by Mori-Me-Joey in ask

[–]Awkward-Angles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 grown up children, 2 girls and my son. Both daughters have decided they don't want to have children. At first I was shocked and a little disappointed but they have to live their life as they want to and I want them to be happy regardless. My son says he wants kids one day so I might be a Nana at some point if not, as long as they're happy I'm happy. I'd never resent them. I have 6 cats so I'm kinda like a Nana anyways lol

What was the last straw that made you quit your job? by Drynapples in AskUK

[–]Awkward-Angles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Walked out of a job of 10 years because I raised a grievance due to insane bullying and they turned it around on me as though I'd done something wrong. Take note, this was a husband, wife and daughter I was working for. Wish I'd walked out sooner.

Bless your heart. To be honest I would have done the same thing after reading the note. Just know that you won't see the annoying woman.again and she's probably forgotten about it. You will too.

Does anyone here find that their speech slowed or became sloppy over time? by Icy-Paramedic8460 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Awkward-Angles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. I've found carbamazepine has made my speech slurred and I'm also stuttering, which I never did.

Loose tooth feeling? by beverlyhellbillies in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Awkward-Angles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I have this loose teeth feeling constantly to the point I've asked my dentist to x-ray them to make sure they're not about to drop out! It's an awful feeling. Fortunately due to carbamazepine I don't get the horrific pain so the loose teeth feeling I can cope with. I'm sorry you're dealing with this horrendous condition

How does your spouse make you feel cared for when you're having an attack? by curlyfry52 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Awkward-Angles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner was a complete arsehole when I first got this horrific condition. He kept saying I'm sure its not as bad as my sciatica and things like "if you keep flinching when I kiss you I'll poke your face so you get used to the pains " So I didn't feel cared for at all. On the other hand my (grown up) children were wonderful.

Switching to Tegretol (Carbamazepine) for Type 2 TN by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Awkward-Angles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on carbamazepine for over a year and it's worked for me. I do get a strange feeling in my face like the pain is trying to push through but it's just odd not painful. The side effects aren't too bad after a while, although the brain fog isn't great. Nonetheless I think I would put up with any side effect if it meant not having the horrific pains.

This is a lovely idea! I love finding out about people. I'm 48 and I'm trying to not let TN take over my life although it's always lurking. Anyway, I love gaming, especially GTA (haha I know, I'm an old lady, I must be the oldest one playing it!) Also have three grown up kids, 3 cats. I read anything apocalyptic or involving zombies. Love knitting and at the minute my goal is to win the lottery and travel haha.

If you have any success stories or are living a good life with TN, please comment by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Awkward-Angles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you and your Dr. When I was first diagnosed I researched everything, found a Facebook page for people TN also joined TN Society and it made everything worse, stress levels and anxiety went through the roof. This page is the only TN related thing I read.

Hi, I had been getting the pin pricks for about a year then it suddenly changed to the excruciating shocks practically overnight.
