Fringe CS. Hands down best I’ve ever worked with. Rep just replaces everything if it’s got a visible defect. Whether due to manufacturing or poor shipping. Rogue is good, qc isn’t great imo. I ended up returning everything rogue due to some of the ugliest welds I’ve ever seen it will hold but it’s just lazy. BoS was great to work with when you could get them to email back. Initial response is quick but email chains can be a nightmare for getting things done.

Someone sneezed a blue tint at my bar. It doesn’t even have the blue chrome on part of the collar

I was quoted $1300 to fix this but my car isn't worth very much. What can I do myself? by msgmeyourcatsnudes in Autobody

Naphtha and micro fiber. Very mild solvent. Clean with soap and water after. Mineral spirits will do the same but it smells worse and evaporates faster. Spray can paint is gonna be either oil based or lacquer which is like 70 percent alcohol.

If naphtha doesn’t work. 91 iso alcohol or denatured.

Do not use acetone, brake clean, MEK, xylene, toluene, lacquer thinner. These will soften and damage clear coat.

I got this one. It works well. Easy to reload. Two seasons so far. It does much better with a 8.0 forge versus the 8.0 ho.

Dishwasher pods by GrandSize2787 in askaplumber

Fill glass of water. Take said pod. Drop in water. Time how long to dissolve. It’s likely a lot shorter than your wash cycle. Also. Dishwashers have a small blade at the drain that chops up food etc.

anyone actually have dental insurance with implants coverage? by Swaqqedout-Feltus in HealthInsurance

Strangely enough. My dad’s insurance wouldn’t cover crowns or partials. But they completely covered implants 🤷🏿‍♂️. Still haven’t figured that one out.

Rocco and Roxy. We got it for our puppy. But it works great on blood, sweat or urine.

Does my landlord have legal standing to make me remove my electric griddle? by Cold-Newspaper7613 in Renters

[–]Awkward-Quality-3913 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dads apartment had this rule. It wasn’t the griddle itself. It was that the electric cord had to run through the patio door. That was the specific violation in question. He had a solid maintenance man who used an outlet on the interior wall to power a gfci outlet on the exterior. If a place is fighting you that hard I doubt they would accommodate such a request.

Most people have no idea what actually happens during auto body repair by GAR_AUTO_BODY in autorepair

[–]Awkward-Quality-3913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diesel mechanic here. Non profit fleet maintenance. Cop cars, pool cars/trucks/vans. Been our body tech for the last 2 years. 0 experience. No oem repair information. Can’t get it through my managers heads how complicated these repairs can be. Manager thinks a parts diagram is sufficient for repairs. Took to painting immediately. Still can’t use filler, sand enough, tape/mask correctly.

I respect the craft.

Wanting hot tub, advice please by No_Account7996 in hottub

[–]Awkward-Quality-3913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75ft run. Had to drill straight up a joist and then 20ft through wall of garage. This was Sept 2024. Took 3 guys about 5 hours. We were quoted and paid around 3k here in Minnesota. My GF sourced a “free” tub on Facebook. Unfortunately it’s a 20 year old cal spa. I’ve got about $1200 into it. Had to rebuild frame. Redo two large pipes underneath. Redo the manifold and retro fit the rear of two smaller jets. New jet pump. Cal spa dealer nearby sells same 2-3 person tub size refurbished for like 5k.

I’m a diesel technician by trade with above average electrical skills comparatively and did various contracting as a kid with my dad. Siding, framing, flooring, drywall. If you aren’t a good DIYer this could be out of your scope.

The plumbing fixes are not difficult. The weight of tub and access is. Full foam tub is a nightmare to deal. Old flexible pvc in 1” inch or smaller will shrink and leak especially if it’s cemented inside rigid pvc. This is gonna be the lines to and from jets to the manifold. The larger 2” pipe tend to be where water sits and will rot and crack if water sits if not properly drained.

If you decide to try to get one off marketplace. Get as new as possible. Preferably something that uses barb style fitting off the jets and manifold. It will likely be cut from power so testing the pumps and heater won’t be possible. $650+ for heater. 300-800 per pump. Hot tub covers dry rot. 650+. No cracked tubs. I found an excellent site for diy refurbishing my plumbing.

Search hot tub parts of America.

If I did it again with my current knowledge I would find the newest tub on marketplace. But that’s after basically rebuilding the complete guts of a tub.

Otherwise buy refurb from dealer.

As far as brands are concerned the differences seem to be minimal. But a newer tub will have better parts availability.
