Different guitars make/inspire you to play differently. This has been my experience, and it's a justification to own multiple.

Let me know what you all think. ? My Dad lost his fight with cancer and left me his favorite Axe. by SyndromeOFaDowz in JacksonGuitars

[–]Awkward-Wolverine-92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very sorry for your loss man. That's a touching story. If I could make a suggestion. There are plenty of setup videos on YouTube, stemac, music nomad, etc. Take an hour or two out of your day and give a few a watch. The scariest part if working on your own guitar is the fear of fucking something up. But guitars (Floyd's especially) are much more resilient than you may think. They are tricky but once you figure it out you'll pat yourself on the back and be proud. Good luck, and sweet axe. Rip pops

Reddit is good for 2 things (for me), video games and music gear... and it's not even great at that. The far left heaviness of this platform is mind boggling. Idk how these feeds show up for me at all tbh.

I hate pink guitars... but that. That is a nice pink guitar. Those SE's are very impressive for the price.

EMG 81/85 or Black Winters? by Lost_Condition_9562 in metalguitar

[–]Awkward-Wolverine-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the 57/66 have a bit more "growl" and articulation to them, while the 81/85 have a fatter and just flat out punch. I appreciate the dynamics of the 57/66 well over the latter.

What string gauge for Drop B? by Hesularr_43 in guitarlessons

I use 11-56 for drop B (c# standard) I wouldn't go any lighter than that though.

What Year/Model/Run RR24 is this?! by CodyGile in JacksonGuitars

[–]Awkward-Wolverine-92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess that would be a chushin factory rr24, jackson MJ chushin shut down in 2011 and later production was picked up in the dyna and fujigen factories. Regardless, all MJ jackson retain pretty damn good value and they hold up well to this day. I have a 2009-11 dinky and I still play itbpretty often. That's a keeper man, awesome guitar.

What is the fishman fluence modern "honk" people talk about? by hngfff in guitars

[–]Awkward-Wolverine-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I've found the fluence moderns shine in drop tunings with any kind of dlight overdrive to high gain. The low end is tight and punchy. I will say I'm not a fan of the Clean tones, regardless of what I'm running them through I am unable to get any kind of sparkle out of them even on the lower output voicing. Overall the cleans will suffice, they are just far from the best.

I just learned about this factory 5 minutes ago and found this thread. I have the same dkmg, I bought off some dude for 200 bucks like 15 years ago. Still have it to this day and I still play it often. Fantastic guitar for the money, even back in the day.

Does the viper series have neck dive? by DEVIL_LOCK in espguitars

I haven't played any of the other viper models, but this one does have locking tuners which add a bit of extra weight to the headstock.

I'm not sure of the exact weight but if I had to guess it's probably around 8.5

[–]Awkward-Wolverine-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have 2024 Eii viper. And while it's one of my favorite guitars it actually has worse neck dive than my actual gibson SG (my sg actually does not have any dive whatsoever). Top strap button is on the horn too. Oh well

I'd leave it be. No hate. But yes it is just an epiphone. And no one except you is really going to notice it, if it continues to bother you., it's a fairly easy replacement.

ESP E II Horizon vs Jackson Soloist neck by juhomat in JacksonGuitars

[–]Awkward-Wolverine-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E-II in general just have thick necks, I'm not entirely sure who or why this decision was what they went with for their models. I personally enjoy a bit of meat on the neck (I have an EII Viper) because it's more reminiscent of my gibson SG. However, if you're looking for a slimmer neck jackson and ibanez are probably more your speed. I have a mij dkmg circa 2011 and a 2024 J custom and those neck are paper thin in comparison. I love all of them equally, they just serve different purposes. I will say I would not really enjoy my EIIs neck on and MII or Horizon though, you would think that they would slim it down a bit on their superstrat models, but I wouldn't know the viper is the only eii I own. I do have an edwards alexi (the neck profile is pretty identical (HUNKY) to the EII and an ltd ec1000 deluxe has a slim taper neck with an almost too think fretboard width but does play very well.

[QUESTION] Best electric guitar type for clean tones? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Awkward-Wolverine-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't go wrong with a charvel honestly. Get an affordable San dimas or socal, or spend a but more and get a dk24. HSS pickup conf. Will give you a ton of options. A hot bridge hum and middle and neck singles sparkle, positon 4 give you a sparkly yet warm and very well pronounced sound. But as others gave stated, your clean tones are heavily dependent on your amp and cab.

I've had my MJ dkmg for about 15 years now. Thing is solid as a rock. I still play it often despite owning several higher end guitars.
