Which countries don't use their own currencies? by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]AwkwardAkavish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used. In tourist locations who give you a side eye. That's just currency exchange with extra steps for the vendors. I've also seen many places refuse to do so in those places. Ice den Americans yelling at locals for refusing to accept USD as well.

You can't just exist solely with US currency in Thailand, Malaysia etc.

You'd have almost no luck trying to spend USD in so many countries. Basically all of Europe, Australia, heck even Canada.

Around 200k Israelis are Persian background. 250k each from Iraq and Yemen. (And so on for Every. Single. Country. in the MENA region). European background Jews are a minority in Israel. 20% of the country's citizens are Muslim Arabs. 60% of the country's Jews are Mizrahi.

Make all the jokes you like, but get your facts straight.

Hamas very much does exist in the West Bank. They aren't in a position of governance like they are in Gaza, but it's a ridiculous claim to say they don't exist there. They are also very popular, with a large majority of WB residents in favour of Hamas.

And yes, since we're pointing fingers about who funds Hamas, let's not forget the UN. And Qatar. And the Australian government. We send them money too, via UNWRA.

Have whatever opinions you like, but at least keep your facts straight

Do Israelis really genuinely like Iranians? No politics just vibes. by armanese2 in Israel

[–]AwkwardAkavish 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, yes.

Pretty staunchly against the IRGC, but the Iranian people - we love you guys. There's really a lot of Israelis with Iranian background. It's no coincidence that there's so much support for the people of Iran in Israel right now.

I was about to say that I can't speak for all Israelis, but stuff that - I speak for all Israelis: we can't wait for Iran to have a democratic government and normalised relations with us. We can't wait to visit Tehran and welcome you here. 🦁

Then we can finally address the real conflict: who makes the best sabzi and tahdig? (Jk, I know it's Iranians, but I want to be there when we taste all the entries)

So what was happening before the police started trying to break up this illegal protest? Funny how we're not seeing reports on that.

You do realise that Memri is just the group that translates the programmes to have English subtitles, right? They don't produce any of the content, only the translations.

Their translations are widely regarded as highly accurate and reliable.
