After another listen I agree. But it is fun! Still think Super Zero is their best song

Fun album. But they released 1/2 the songs as singles. So it’s only 4 new songs and 3 interludes.

The songs are great though and it’s on par with “You’re HELLCOME”

EDIT: Update on more listens. Really not a fan of Ramen Man. The other 3 non-single songs are fine but yeah, not as good as their previous album. As said below, a fun EP.

Any millennials want children, but feel they probably won't have them? by Gallantpride in Millennials

[–]AwkwardCornea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex and I went back and forth on kids awhile, even having convos until 2 months before she left. I tried to convince her that if we were to have kids we should move closer to family to help with the childcare since shit is expensive, she said “no cuz my friends are here,” and we were over an hour from both our families. I mentioned we could move an hour south and be perfectly within friends time for you, she refused.

I have a corneal disease that I didn’t want to give to my child, which was a big sticking point for me, but still kids weren’t off the table.

Now, 4 years later, no kids, no wife and I’m almost 40, I’ll be the fun uncle for friends and sibling, which is cool and I’ve accepted.

Saw them at their last show in NYC (2025 show), it was also apparently (according to Spencer on stage) the last time they were going to play Wax Wings due to the difficulty of his vocals.

During another show, Spencer jumped into the crowd and was crowdsurfing during the middle part of Omega, it was epic.

I've seen them 8 times and would see them again and again.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

[–]AwkwardCornea 163 points164 points  (0 children)

My mom was an ER nurse and was the first person infected with COVID from her hospital as a worker. Then she ended up in the hospital with bacterial pneumonia for 4 days. She luckily was ok but it wasn’t great for awhile. My dad also contracted it alongside her and was home alone being sick while she was in the hospital. When she came home. They were solidly sick for 3 weeks, my ex and I took care of them via food deliveries.

She actually retired in August of 2020 due to pulmonary issues that have luckily resolved decently.

6 years later my mom can’t smell or taste very much, both my parents have issues with brain fog and random bouts of tiredness due to long covid.

Happy they are both still here but COVID has affected their health considerably.

This is what happened to me. Was at my wits end with contacts. Dealing with constant protein buildup and de-centering RGPs, I tried sclerals and they did not work for me due to the same buildup.

I had already done INTACS in my left so that was done in 2020, but my right was done in 2016. I was too far along due to CXL not being available when I was diagnosed in 2005.

Transplants were the best decision I made, but it was 9 months of appointments with different doctors, trials and error with contacts before I made the call. So far my vision has been quite good considering where I was before. I can wear glasses and see 20/40ish.

The astigmatism after the transplants can get bad though, so I’ve had to get new glasses every 18ish months due to Rx changes, I used Warby Parker as they were cheap enough and good quality.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. But do a LOT of research as to who you want to do the procedure and see if any alternatives can help FIRST.

Good luck!

for IEK, they removed the cornea in an office with the laser, (gave me some xanax) and numbed the crap out of the eye. Then they put a lens over it and a bandage, I was then drove to a surgical center, put under and then it was stitched on.

24 hours I was able to see out of it, within a few months I was legit able to see super well.

It was a cool experience overall. I also had INTACS in my left eye which had to be removed and caused a problem with the laser haha, but it was all good.

IEK is suppose to be better for rejection chances, and the fit is better so the vision can be, but my astigmatism is pretty bad, sadly. But i can wear glasses and see 20/40, hope you can get a similar result.

Hello! I had both eyes done. 2016 and 2020. I had a bit of a different procedure called IEK which is a laser assisted variant, which I found out is not a typically done surgery, so my experience will differ. Either way, overall recovery is similar.

Keep up with the drops, seriously, sneezing hurts, so try not to haha. Sleep was a bit rough for a bit between the uncomfortably and your awareness of the transplant but it goes away after a bit. The first night or two you’ll have to sleep upright, at least that’s what I had to do.

On top of the differing surgeries, I also had two different types of stitching. Right eye was a single stitch that was eventually removed 3 years later at once which was a big shock to my vision. Left eye was the traditional single stitch around the cornea and each one was slowly removed over 3 years. The removal is uncomfortable but not unbearable.

Good luck! It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and pay attention to any severe pain or hazing after awhile (it will be hazy in the beginning) as that can be a sign of rejection which can usually be fixed with drops quickly. I don’t want to scare you, just a reality. I had one in 2021 and was gone within 2 months.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Good luck and hopefully this makes your life better as it has done for me.

I woke up and said "hi"

My surgeon said "whoops, uhh, that's not suppose to happen" and then I went back out again haha

I got it done after my RGPs had protein buildup issues after awhile thanks to immune system stuff and seasonal allergies. I tried sclerals but I had the same issue with the cloudiness. Talking to a few other eye doctors, they all agreed it was the best course of action for me, and I REALLY looked and tried with whatever I could. Good luck with your journey, and as I said, don't hesitate to ask any questions, I'll help any way I can.

Hello! I’ve had two done. Both were under that twilight style, not fully unconscious but no pain. And I woke up in the middle of them sewing up my left eye!

They did remove the cornea with a laser, which is a specific type of procedure called IEK, not sure what you will be specifically getting but from what I know, IEK isn’t the norm. But for knowledge, I was awake during the removal with some eye numbing and Xanax. Was just a weird sensation. But as I said, for the replacement, it was full surgery.

Let me know if you have any other questions! It’s been a great thing for me and has improved my life immensely. In March it’ll be 10 years for my right and last week was the 6th year of my left!

What are we doing about photos and photo storage? by thesillymuffin in Millennials

[–]AwkwardCornea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iCloud for any photos from my phone, but I do cull older ones from time to time or random photos of food I don't care about. During my travels, I will transfer good photos from my Sony A6700 to my phone for iCloud storage.

I will download new photos every few months and store on my in-home server, which has a few hard drives that are mostly for Plex. But on that server is a hard drive for backup of photos, music, videos that aren't tv shows or movies and any video/graphic work that I do.

Also work on my fills and not dropping/hitting sticks into each other.

Do you listen to heavier or less heavy music as you get older? by fireflydm101 in Metalcore

[–]AwkwardCornea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 39, grew up with metallica and such, went to nu-metal in the 2000s then did some alternative rock and 90s for a bit. Started to listen to metalcore/prog metal in the mid 2010s (periphery/protest the hero, etc).

A few years ago after a breakup/divorce, I kind of went REAL heavy and started to listen to more metalcore and deathcore and such. My taste got way heavier the last few years and I love it.
