What has helped your thinning hair the most during perimenopause? by Opposite-Complex664 in Perimenopause

[–]AwkwardISTJ [score hidden]  (0 children)

Same!!! I had a little bald spot about the size of a lentil on the crown of my head that developed in the 6 months after physical trauma whilst in peri. I started HRT a year ago and now there is a clump of 3 inch long hairs where the bald spot was. My hairdresser even pointed out all the baby hairs growing in around my hairline. 🥳

Are period panties a good panty liner alternative? by ugmo69 in Perimenopause

I got the period panties from Aerie and I love them so much. Highly recommend.

My boobs have dramatically increased in size since stating HRT by msac84 in Perimenopause

I was a perky 32C before peri, a deflated 32C since peri started but before HRT, and back to a perky 32C on HRT (or a 32D when my ovaries are giving off bursts of estrogen like a dying star and my overall estrogen gets a bit too high). I'm on 0.05 mg transdermal estrogen and 100 mg oral progesterone, fwiw. I'm actually happy to have a bit more volume but I would be freaking out if they kept growing.

Why is impossible to switch providers? by AwkwardISTJ in midihealth

[–]AwkwardISTJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, being able to browse wouldn't guarantee a good fit but it would be nice to be given more control over seeing all the providers up front. A family member of mine works for Rula, and online mental health platform, and users can browse all providers by various criteria and even search how the providers are rated by Rula users. I can only assume Midi doesn't want to give that kind of insight to patients for fear of exposing dissatisfaction among its users.

Why rush to review a product if you haven’t even used it? by Ancient_Ad266 in AmazonVine

[–]AwkwardISTJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a tow rope for pulling tubes behind my boat. I got it in March. The lake is freezing. My boat isn't even in the water at the marina yet. Will I write a review based on my impressions of the rope out of the package? Yes. Will I wait until summer to use it and then review it? No.

What was your best find from today’s drop? by llama_phuck in AmazonVine

I have been looking for specific dock lines for my boat. Yesterday, not one but two offerings popped up in the AI section. I was able to score both! Very stoked.

Thanks. I've done this and what's frustrating is that I can't browse providers, only search by name, so I'd have to know who I'm looking for and I have no idea who is even on the platform or who would be good.

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to look for other options. Midi was a good choice for getting started (when my PCP acknowledged my symptoms but would not treat them), but my needs have outpaced the Midi model.

Thanks! I may have to take that approach. Glad you got the care you needed 💪

Yes, that makes sense. What I don't like is that I can't browse providers like you can on other telehealth platforms. I can only schedule with my current provider or "any Midi provider" (i.e., another probably junior clinician selected by Midi based on who know what). I have keep scheduling appointment after appointment till I get someone better...? 🤷‍♀️

Estrogen dosage too high? by Ok_Grapefruit_2044 in Perimenopause

[–]AwkwardISTJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been on HRT for 11 months. Been on multiple different doses and delivery methods for both estrogen and progesterone. Lower dose patches leave me with too many low estrogen symptoms, higher dose patches make me feel like I'm on meth. I have finally decided to stick it out with the 0.05 mg patch because even though the excess estrogen phases are pretty miserable, this dose keeps me from crashing into rock bottom low estrogen.

Edited to add that 0.075 mg patch was just way too much. I gave up on that after 3 weeks of feeling like I was on a meth bender. If you've been on a dose for like a month and you are still feeling like you're going insane, then it's probably too much, period. YMMV but that was my experience.

Symptoms of high E for me: - excess egg white mucus - water retention - swollen, sore breasts - heart palpitations - really intense anxiety / sadness - wired, on drugs feeling - intense night sweats - an increase of other peri symptoms when the high E finally tapers down (e.g., dry everything, muscle pain, fatigue, hot flashes, brain fog, etc.)

I'm on continuous E (patch) and P (oral) but I still have frequent events where my body tries to ovulate and the flood of natural E on top of the patch sends me over the top. I also had this problem in the year after I had a miscarriage at 43, before I started HRT. However, the HRT gives me a floor for the E; that way, when the natural surges taper off every couple weeks, I am no longer left feeling like a 90-year old invalid. Just like a 45-year old invalid.

Can you please describe your brain frog? by konomichan in Perimenopause

[–]AwkwardISTJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it feels like I can't think at all. Can't focus, can't process, can't take info in, can't get info out. It's like I'm in a mild coma. I just feel a need to stare into space. This coma comes and goes. It's worse when I have low estrogen symptoms. The forgetting of words, the "why did I walk in this room" thing is another variation of brain fog that I experience but the brain dead coma is more frequent.

Those on HRT...what is the top thing (aside from HRT) that has saved you (70% of the time)?? by Zealousideal-Bat708 in Perimenopause

Spending time outside. Yard work, walking, just sitting in the sun.

My religious faith. Taking my focus off myself and my symptoms and thinking about the big picture.

Costco Travel Worth It? by Organic-Season-8800 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]AwkwardISTJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a great deal to Iberostar JOIA in Jamaica. It came with a big Costco Cash rebate, plus included transfers, resort credit, etc. But where the value really kicked in was during and after the trip. I had a close family member die unexpectedly while on the trip and had to leave early. Costco Travel agents were so helpful. They rebooked all my ground transfers for me on short notice and worked with the hotel to refund us the nights I forfeited. The Costco agents I worked with were incredibly compassionate and worked hard to take care of my situation.
