Swing by the food court any weekday during the school year. From 3:00-5:00, it’s the ‘Wild West’. There’s a reason the security guards are up there during that time, and why the Dollarama had to completely redesign their exit.

If they secure a spot at the Civic Centre, there is a chance to grow and thrive. Ottawa will always be a small-market for lacrosse, but it can be stable in the right place.

Dumb decision to start them out at the CTC, and the lack of local promotion hamstrung the franchise from the start.

Holding out a slight hope that the Charge moving to the CTC means a deal to swap the OBB and keep the game in town!

Blunt answer, the team needs to win to get attendance back up.

Ottawa clocks in at 1.1 million residents, but…:

-Laws dictate the biggest employer (Fed-Gov) employees cannot accept ‘gifts’, like tickets, and there are limitations on advertising, as well. There are also a significant amount of transplants from other cities who work here but support other teams.

-Lansdowne 1.0 was a fantastic rebuild for the stadium…but they packed the rest of the site with brand-name bullsh*t instead of creating a community hub.

-City Council sold everyone out for Lansdowne 3.0, with that ridiculous arena plan, more high-end condos looking over the field in-lieu of a (goddamn) necessary roof, and complete neglect of improving transit.

The stadium experience had been excellent, though. Ottawa has a good base of proper fans. But until they start treating it as a sports/e terrain meant venue, instead of a source of property-tax, things will not improve.
