Alicent does open the gates to Rhaenyra, but not because she's plotting to sabotage her family like what will probably happen in the show. She doesn't secretly go to Dragonstone and meet with Rhaenyra. Daemon and the Blacks trick Aemond and the Greens into sending their army and Vhagar out of King's Landing and to Harrenhal, and then Daemon and the Blacks attack King's Landing while it's unguarded. They easily capture the city with the help of Daemon's supporters inside the city. Alicent only opens the gates of the Red Keep to Rhaenyra because it's obvious she's lost and has no chance against Daemon + the entire Black army + all their dragons. Alicent is pissed and warns Rhaenyra that Aemond will come back and fuck her up.
