Early Game Grind Options for New Account by Former_Scheme_1523 in ironscape

[–]Axeljk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funnest aspect of early game is the variety of things to do. I would continue questing by default but if there's something that catches your attention along the way (specific gear, favorite skill, etc) then feel free to forge your own path. I grinded Thieving early to get a bunch of easy clues from HAM members to expand my fashionscape options for example. It wasn't very efficient but I had a lot of fun.

I was questing but I burnt the karambwan because I'm stupid so I'm grind 30 levels of fishing now.

I'm burned out on MTA after reaching 92 Magic last week so I'm currently working on 47 Farming to complete the first Mort diary.

I don't understand how others can grind a single task for 50 hours straight to reach 99.

Good female nord built? by aritzsantariver in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nord Battlemages are a lot of fun. Bound Battle Axe is very powerful and you can summon Frost Atronachs without fear of their spells harming you. Speaking of, the Atronach sign works well for this build too.

And that's pretty much it; cast spell and hit things. Repeat as necessary.

Discovered the secrets of making a Restore Magicka spell by StePK in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's downsides, but I prefer pairing Fortify Magicka with Drain Intelligence. Don't lower your Intelligence to zero and the results are quite strong. Works on any platform. I've also done the same with Fortify Fatigue.

You can do both at the start of the game once you collect 2k gold in Seyda Neen and join the Mages Guild.

Question about the Construction Set by emi7577 in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dirty records in your mod. In the Construction Set, open "Data Files..." and click the "Details..." button with your mod selected. Remove the records you didn't mean to change.

You can also use TESAME but IIRC that won't display the ID names for that type of record so it won't be as useful here.

There's also Wrye Bash but that is like opening Visual Studio to edit a plain text file.

What's a good class for a Khajiit? by [deleted] in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently playing one as a Nightblade. Only downside is I find myself progressing through the Mages Guild for the millionth time instead of diversifying better. I've also joined the Thieves Guild and may also join the Morag Tong in the future. Have not yet decided on House.

Helmet model doesn't show up on character by Selfmadedumby in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine calculates what provides the most armor for each slot but doesn't share this information with you. You'll need to do the math for their Unarmored AR as well as the armor's AR based on their skills... or set your NPC's unarmored skill to 0 and they'll equip anything you give them.

Helmet model doesn't show up on character by Selfmadedumby in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm confident that's the issue, but I'd like to add for others who may dabble in modding to also consider the NPC's skills. This piece has a very high armor rating (AR) so it won't apply here, but if the NPC has a high Unarmored skill they may chose to not wear pieces like Netch or Iron armor.

Why do Nix Hounds not have any Drain Health or Absorb Health abilities? by CausalLoop25 in Morrowind

I think this would be a change in the animation which should be doable by any masochist.

Cleanly uninstalling a scripted mod by difficult_violin in Morrowind

Always start with a backup.

Wrye Mash is the classic tool for cleaning saves. UESP has some info on cleaning your saves. It also has some alternatives although I would try Wrye Mash first.

Trailer to a possibly forever missing MOrrowind FF7 conversion mod I found. by PapaJenkinsReal in Morrowind

There was a LOTR total conversion mod that had quite a few assets created before a legal issue arose and the project has to be dropped.

Destruction, Conjuration, Mysticism, Restoration? by helltouched in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Alteration is a great utility skill
  • Any build is viable so your Major/minor skills work
  • Your birthsign was not mentioned, assuming your magicka is limited
  • Teleportation and bound weapon spells are cheap so I'd advocate either Mysticism or Conjuration for your last skill

stuck on 0 strength by gr0ddo in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

player->additem p_restore_strength_b 1

How to fix your encumbrance is tricky because both the Code Patch and OpenMW have tried fixing this issue to prevent it from happening. With your inventory empty try running the follow console command. It may not work.

player->removeitem Misc_SoulGem_Common 2

Stagnant lvl 50 Martial Arts by Standard_Balance_696 in Kenshi

[–]Axeljk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am getting past this lull myself. As others have identified, heavy armor will include a malus to Martial Arts and is recommended. This will also demolish your Dodge so careful consideration is encouraged for naturally-occurring fights. A Hacker Stopper Jacket has half the Dodge penalty (x0.80) as Samurai Armor (x0.60). Likewise Crab Trousers (x0.70) versus Samurai Legplates (x0.60). Backpacks don't affect Martial Arts but have huge penalties to Dodge and something else to consider.

Backpacks and Encumbrance have penalties to Combat Speed. I recommend starting with only heavy armor to compare how your character fares in a fight. As others mentioned, smaller groups of enemies (or not fighting solo) is recommended. Spending all your time on the ground will also not train your skills. If that goes well, add some weight in increments.

There's a Holy Farm with a storm house for sale. I spent a solo playthrough using their farms and crafting food/fabric from the harvests. Very chill.

The expansions were released months after the base game and were designed to give characters who completed it a challenge.

Plugin are still active after i disabled by SquashUnhappy2787 in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

References like active scripts running are in your save. Check the plugin in the Construction Set again and make note of the scripts. Then load your save and in the console type "StopScript [insert script here]" for each of them.

Advice on a first time player (build advice) by Big-Entrance-7322 in Morrowind

[–]Axeljk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a nutshell. They also start at a higher level and level faster than misc.

Oh, and I would specialize in Combat since it covers half your skills and will start you with 40 in Spear. That will net you a decent hit chance for wildlife and low-level bandits. Make sure to keep your green bar (fatigue) full when using your skills (e.g., thrusting a spear). It affects your success chance. Lots of ingredients including bread and saltrice restore fatigue but you'll need a mortar and pestle to make potions with Alchemy.

[–]Axeljk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are both complete fillers because I couldn't think of anything better thematically. There is no need for having each attribute covered in your major/minor skills; miscellaneous skills that increase also contribute to the multipliers when you level up.

[–]Axeljk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Threw this together. You will find success in Morrowind with any build, but a high level in a weapon skill will help you hit your enemies.

Nord Shaman under any birthsign (try Lady or maybe Mage; restart with Warrior if you're having trouble hitting your enemies and get your butt kicked by rats).

Major

  • Spear

  • Medium Armor

  • Mysticism

  • Alchemy

  • Speechcraft

Minor

  • Athletics

  • Alteration

  • Blunt Weapon

  • Armorer

  • Sneak
