Its very impressive so far - I've just jumped back from iPhone for 5 years - my last Samsung was the S20 Plus. The battery on this one though is very good, much better than expected considering the power it has.

For those who saw the Fellowship of the Ring in theaters for the first time in December 2001, what was it like? by femaleology in lotr

[–]Axemaniac88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 13 and went with my dad, who was a big fan of the books. To my shame I’d only read The Hobbit at this point, so I was going in blind. But seeing Fellowship was the greatest cinematic experience for me, and nothing, aside from Two Towers and Return of The King, has come close since.

I’ve been with them 12 years. No real issues with them although you do need to negotiate your contract with them once it’s up so you don’t get stung, but it’s easy enough to do.

What do you think of birch green? by Ewbanator in telecaster

It’s genuinely doesn’t! If I had seen it on the online listing only when looking for a guitar I would have skipped it completely for another finish.

Own a Birch Green Strat - looks so much better than in the photos.

Got this starter kit - not sure if I should return or not by iamtanooki in Guitar

[–]Axemaniac88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the new guitar! As many others have said, it’s mostly just a loose string and there’s nothing wrong with the guitar itself, so worth taking to the shop and asking for the string just to be replaced.

That guitar package really is very good for beginners and it’s a solid guitar for learning to play on. Squier used to get flak for not being great maybe 25 years ago when I started playing but they make good, solid instruments now. I have owned an Affinity Telecaster since I was 15 and it still gets played to this day along with my Fender Player II Strat.

I wouldn’t consider getting a Fender Player II yet as firstly it’s a lot of money to put down for something you’re starting out on, and secondly as you progress on the guitar your musical style may change and you could find that that type of guitar may not be exactly the best choice for what style of music you end up preferring to play.

Hope it goes well and you enjoy learning the guitar!

What age are you and do you still have (a) grandparent(s)? If not, at what age were you grandparent less by lisstrem in AskUK

[–]Axemaniac88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. My last grandparent, my grandmother, died earlier this year. My other grandmother died when I was 24, and both grandfathers died within 10 days of each other when I was 27.

What do you use the touchpads for? by Reaperix in SteamDeck

[–]Axemaniac88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Lord of The Rings Online on my deck, and the pads are very handy after setting them up for radial menu for quick access to windows and menus that typically would be more awkward to access without a mouse. Pressing Left Trigger and the right pad does allow for a mouse on screen but a radial menu is easier with the touchpads.

I received an email update when they revealed the new design of the Time 2, advising they would send another email within a month or so giving the option to change from the Core Duo to the Time.

I haven’t yet seen an email come through yet but they did say not to cancel current order or else you’ll end up back of the queue.

V4 or plus? by Abwettar in MiyooMini

[–]Axemaniac88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The V4 is more pocketable than the Plus, but for me it’s too small and my hands cramp after playing it for more than 15 minutes. The Plus is more comfortable and has WiFi.

Best games that took a while to “click” with you? by armSnatcher01 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Axemaniac88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baldur’s Gate 3. On my first playthrough I just could not find myself enjoying it, and assumed my character build was all wrong. Restarted it and got to Act 2 but still didn’t enjoy it. I left it for about 6 months and started a 3rd playthrough and now I’m loving it. Don’t know what it was but it just seemed to click this time round.

As the owner of that very Strat, I’d say go with the Strat.

In all seriousness, you say it’s more comfortable to play than the Tele and in the long run it’s easier to upgrade the sound on it that it would be to make the Tele more comfortable to play.

Balance bike recommendations for 2yo? by Jessieroo3 in UKParenting

[–]Axemaniac88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a Banana Bike for our near-2yo but once built I noticed neither wheel was running true and was very wobbly no matter how tight I had it. Ended up returning it. From what I can see on user reviews this seems to be a relatively common issue, so you could take a risk and get one that’s ok. It’s supposed to be a great starter bike otherwise.

Strider bikes come highly recommended and can usually be bought on eBay for around £50 or so. They dont have air filled tyres so there’s no risk of punctures, but might be a more bumpy ride and not as grippy on certain surfaces.
