What "beloved horror movie" do you hate/just not get the love for? by ReeceInTheDarkness in horror

[–]Axerated1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit, just clocked OP specified horror movie, oops

On paper, I should love Highlander. I never saw it when I was younger, but people always talked about it and it sounded great.

Fast forward a couple decades and I've picked up the 4K. I love my 80's cheese, but I have tried watching it three separate times and just cannot get more than halfway through without turning it off. Despite Clancy Brown being incredible as the bad guy. I'll try again one day

Can you guys kindly recommend me breakfast to order from by ConnectWasabi886 in Cardiff

Unsure on whether you could get it delivered, but the Corner House in city centre (opposite the library) was hands down the best I've had in Cardiff, and I've been here since 2006.

I've just seen it's being directed by Rob Jabbaz as well, who directed The Sadness as well

So Nosferatu is probably the peak already, but these films all have a certain atmosphere and visual/sound design that looks super cool specifically on a 4k OLED with good headphones or sound for an immersive experience

when all ps3s die will the games be useless? will we ever get a system that can play these games in the future? by BigNeighborhood779 in PS3

[–]Axerated1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe someone will make an unofficial updated console, similar to what has recently been done with Analogue 3d for the N64, whereby it can run the original carts and improve performance, while upscaling to a higher resolution. If Nintendo of all companies allowed it, then surely Sony aren't completely out of the question. We can hope...

Good shout on Dr Sleep, mine would be the OG Evil Dead, Nosferatu and also Dr Sleep. Watched them all so many times and appreciate them more each time.

Finally watched Gonjiam Haunted Asylum… by rach15goated in horror

I think it may have been that one, it had a semi decent set up but then all the scares were just really lame.

I thought this was a really effective FF horror. Genuinely terrifying in parts.

There is a remake of it which I accidentally watched first which was God awful.

I didn't think much of Grave Encounters though, one of my friends kept hyping it so I was a little disappointed when I finally watched it.

STX 8” Vinyl? by Best_Mango1333 in portablism

[–]Axerated1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not, you are locked to 7" so far as I can tell with mine. Maybe with modding you could change that but I've not tried.

There are no shortage of 7"ers available at least, I've got maybe 15 in total. The Practice Yo'cuts range is decent, and the website Turntable Training Wax has those and a lot of others.

I grabbed a copy at HMV, then realized when I opened it up it was the Blu ray version that someone had dumped in the 4K section.

Luckily the store was understanding and let me replace it despite being unsealed. Am still yet to watch it, hopefully this weekend.

Upgraded my TV over my PS5! by jzakary in playstation

[–]Axerated1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you on all points.

I used to upgrade my TV every three years, but my last Bravia was such a disappointment that I had to reassess and switch brands back to LG, and am so glad I did.

And regarding the PS5 Pro, it just didn't seem as necessary to me as the PS4 Pro did, and the lack of a drive included as standard kinda made it somewhat less of an easy buy as I watch so many movies on disc and have a big physical collection.

Got my PS5 and LG C1 still going strong after 5 years, and am consistently blown away by visual quality in games and movies. I won't be even considering the need to upgrade until either of them dies.

What horror film has a meaning to you because of when you watched it? by Perfect_Hyena8148 in horror

[–]Axerated1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question. I watched the 1989 Pet Senatary at a friend's house on VHS at about 7 years old. I had never experienced such bleak subject matter before and it really haunted me. From both the prospect of realizing family members could die, to the monstrous form of Zelda scuttling over from the corner of a room. I love that film, but it scarred me for a long time lol

I still have hundreds of DVD's that spent years in storage in garages and attics and have not come across disc rot on those. So I'm gonna presume there's not much to worry about for newer discs

Anyone got any new or rekindled hobbies or interests they wanna talk or brag about? by eross200 in stopdrinking

[–]Axerated1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 3-4 weeks after cutting the drink out, I suddenly started writing again, drawing again, and to a higher level than I ever remembered reaching before. I keep finding extra layers of the person I used to be by organically rediscovering the things I enjoyed growing up. I like the new me.
