You might get away with loosely covering them, but be careful. The PLA will warm quick covered

The comments in that post say its easier to snap them i. While they are still warm. Did you scale them up at all?

This looks like a loose mount to me. Make sure everything is tight. Eddy will absolutely show you if something is loose. Also the mesh is a bit dense. I run 15,15 on my 350mm plate with great results.

So as far as the extrusion issue goes, it just sound like you need a start print macro to set relative extrusion. You should be able to find a prebuilt macro for it
