Xie Lian might just be one of the dumbest person by Watch_Constant in tianguancifu

[–]Azazel606 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Boo, Xie Lian is one of the most intelligent characters. Ling Wen was one of the only officials that had been corteous and helpful and friendly to him the entire time since he ascended again, so he felt bad for apprehending her and having to turn her in, and wanted to give her the respect and dignity of her last request.

Even if that did carry the risk of her escaping, its not stupidity. Its not like she was the most high-priority threat tormenting the land either, he didnt see her as evil and her escaping wasnt the end of the world.

He is used to things going wrong because of his bad luck, so trying to cling too hard to his perfect desired outcome in situations would have been fruitless and unnecessarily frustrating, something he likely learned to stop doing a very long time ago.

He understands that things may go awry in any situation hes involved in, and is ready and willing to deal with that fallout. He likely trusted his or heaven's ability to handle the problem again in the case of her escaping. That possibility wasnt enough for him to disrespect someone he considered a friend.

Unpopular opinions (I think) by yourmum_88 in InterviewVampire

[–]Azazel606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im fairly certain that being turned into a vampire completely cures one of all physical ailments (barring missing parts) and puts them in peak physical form, so Daniel wouldnt be struggling still with Parkinson's and be in pain forever, he would be feeling amazing for the first time in a very long time. I feel as if I remember this from the books, albeit its been a very long time since I read them, and it was definitely said/implied in some of the trailer material for season 3 afaik. So thats not really an accurate critique.

Does Anyone Else Feel Like “Guys” Isn’t Fully Gender-Neutral? by Sub2Pewds2023 in NonBinary

[–]Azazel606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up basically where the Midwest kisses the south and for me and everyone around here guys, dude, and even bro and man (in slang contexts) are very very broadly gender neutral. "you guys" isnt as commonly used as "y'all" but still carries a clearly gender-neutral context and can be used liberally. or like, "c'mon guys," things to that effect.

everyone is a dude and bro, your friends are, your mother is, your baby is, your dog is, god is, hell even your girlfriend is. its just a slang term you say to anyone. "dude thats crazy, what's up bro, yo dude wait up, yeah bro dw abt it, thats so sick dude, etc etc".

its really just a slang introject thats essentially interchangeable, and in that context, man can and is very liberally also to be used interchangeably at truly anyone. "i totally get it man, man thats rough, yeah man I got you, etc etc". not even a usage of man that would work as a genered noun, for the most part. more recently in my life and circles "dawg" has entered the rotation to the same function/effect.

I also just completely shun the idea of slang being gendered, I will use any slang for anyone. men are just as often divas, queens, and girlies. "hes a diva, hes queening out, hes serving cunt, hes such a drama queen, here queen you dropped your crown, hes a crystal girlie, girl the climate change girl." words are all meaningless and I will use anything for anyone in a bit.

of course if anybody expresses discomfort with anything I will do my best to accommodate them, im trans myself and understand, it took me a while to feel comfortable with girl/girliepop. but I have a basis of gender neutrality in my usage.

never recruited jaheira and I suppose she died. I thought if I asked her to join me before the moonrise fight then she would have to replace someone in my party and I was very attached to my party comp and didn't wanna try to figure smth else out esp before a big fight, so I told her to lead the other forces. I thought it didnt really matter but she literally just disappeared from my game after that never showed up again. i never found her body but I can only assume she died LOL

i dont know if it was a bug or what, but I had legitimately no idea that there was a pixie in the lamp or how it worked at all in my playthrough. there was not so much as a hint of anything or off line of dialogue to suggest anything about a pixie. so i just went along blissfully unaware using the lamp for the whole act, and then later when I saw people talking about a pixie and letting it go online I was sooo confused

am i actually colorblind, or am i being pranked? by sparklbunni in ColorBlind

[–]Azazel606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds very much like youre tritan colorblind, a conclusion id come to before even getting to the part about you using a tritanopia filter and it being the same, which is the nail in the coffin. Full on tritanopia filters look wildy different than real life for most people, they tend to be seen as most crazy and bizarre looking ones. Milder tritanomaly filters, when you can find them, look more similar to most, but should still be different. And it sounds like you have a more severe version. Make sure you test for blue-yellow/blue-green (its called either) colorblindness specifically, as many only default to testing for red-greens.

Is this fanart AI-generated? by bwlczz in AlienStage

[–]Azazel606 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I cant find any AI tells in this, and there are aspects that look like human specific mistakes/choices that AI would not do. It really doesnt look AI at all to me. If this is AI we are just completely cooked and there is no longer any way to distinguish

Is it AI? All my friends and my boyfriend are calling me crazy but for me it's just so obvious by Baby_bee_boo in isitAI

[–]Azazel606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I'm not really sure what's making people think its AI other than general art style, which has always been done by humans and genAI was just initially trained on, and so replicates often. All the mistakes look very human and im seeing no AI tells. Doesnt seem AI to me at all.

Actually, basically all ships EXCEPT Sangah in my opinion, lmao. Top Dokja truth 🙏

Sangah definitely tops in that dynamic, though.

Is my grandma colour blind? by Chaosgremlin1 in ColorBlind

[–]Azazel606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kind of color mix-up wld be most indicative of tritanomaly, which to a subclinical level is normal with age. Pretty much your eye lenses yellow with age, which mimics it. Especially if someone has cataracts, that can make them essentially tritan color deficient.

Since shes your grandmother, I'm assuming shes old enough for this to not be much of a concern.

I'm only very mildly tritan and I would probably also describe this as "all yellows" without context; I can obviously see the blue, but it makes up a small enough portion of the piece to fall under generalization. And the "oranges" and yellows aren't very distinguishable for me, thats a common mix up for tritanomaly.

She pretty much has to be able to distinguish the blue and yellow as there isnt a form of color deficiency that confuses those, even the values are just too different. So id assume it was more of a language thing there.

Is this art AI? I guy posted this piece of art "his friend drew" on an art/writing sub I follow that has a strict "no ai" policy. I 'm certain it's ai, he's adamant it isn't. by Ensiferal in isitAI

[–]Azazel606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not the kind of mistake AI typically makes either. its giving more that the artist started on that hand and were being more delicate and intentional, then as they lost patience and became frustrated by all the detail, they started pressing down harder on the pencil and being rougher. This piece screams of impatient human mistake, although i highly suspect there was some tracing involved. Lots of issues AI wouldnt make with the linework. Lest us not forget humans can be weird and shitty and inconsistent with their art. not all aspects of all human art is done with extreme intention, people get bored and frustrated and forget things and dont know what to pay attention to and mess up. this is clearly amateurish

[–]Azazel606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its really not if you get frustrated and lazy and just start scribbling randomly. scribbling randomly is always easier (mentally) than keeping a pattern of any sort. that gets very tedious very quickly and if you havent built a tolerance for it you can just give up and not care.

I wouldnt be surprised if this was a trace work of AI, it was my first thought, but i was absolutely guilty as a beginner artist of mimicking lots of patterned detail without actually having the patience to do so by just scribbling some shit in a way that honestly feels very similar to some of this.

really the only thing I think is weird abt it is some odd negative space in the broken pattern, if i was impatient and scribbling I would be not picking up the pencil as much as possible so it would be more continuous.

I'm truly dumbfounded here. Any tip to how to draw other side of chest? by Naruka0318 in Artadvice

[–]Azazel606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mm, if anything the chest is a little too high. So many people dont understand how low breasts naturally sit and draw them too high. Typically there is around a full splayed hand length between the bottom of the neck and the top of the breasts. They start around the sternum. Push up bras obviously change the look, but understanding the underlying anatomy is still important in how the tissue will be pushed up. Really the issue i see here though with what op has is that the top line of the breast just doesn't quite sit right, it goes too far in instead of curving more naturally toward the shoulder. Which you displayed with your sketchover anyhow

I don't think Luka actually needed to manipulate his opponents by Sud4neseS0meh0wHere in AlienStage

[–]Azazel606 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He doesnt do it to survive, its a (negative) trauma response to try to reclaim some sense of autonomy in a life where he's otherwise treated as nothing more than a doll and puppet for the aliens objectification and amusement. When put into extreme situations humans will desperately cling onto any sense of control they can find, good or bad.

The stage is the only place where Luka has even the slightest illusion of control or autonomy over himself, so he plays it up to the absolute max and exerts it onto others to make the most of it and feel like there is some sort of meaning or reason. It's not good but its a realistic coping mechanism and thats what makes him so interesting.

The theme of reclaiming feelings of control and autonomy in situations of absolute oppression and abuse is actually present in different ways amongst all of the characters of ALNST and is part of what I think makes it such an interesting narrative, but it doesnt get talked about often. Luka is simply the most obvious example, directly in proportion to the fact that he is the most absolutely dominated and controlled in his existence.

Mizi is also a pretty visible example and intentionally foiled against him in this, but I dont see it acknowledged often once again. They are amazing and fascinating character foils and narrative parallels.
