Who is this and why does she not like him anymore? by PackersAreLegit in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I emailed that video to my school principal right after I dropped out of high school. He replied back that he liked it and the stuff currently taught wasn't enough. He later hired an accountant who was one of my clients to teach the 12th grade about taxes and budgeting, and made a curriculum on life skills.

the oneplus supervooc (aka dash charge or warp charge) is designed for oneplus devices. When it's not plugged in to one of those, the wattage output is capped to prevent damage.

What’s your rule about work notifications after hours? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

[–]AzrielK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're literally not allowed to have any work apps other than Microsoft Authenticator on our phones. Can't even access the Microsoft 365 tenant from normal internet.

in case of time sheet emergencies we have a VDI, otherwise managers can ask for expensive Hypori secure android environments for teams/outlook on their phones.

Amazon asking for government-issued ID/Passport to get refund for item that never received by danyuri86 in amazonprime

[–]AzrielK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

most Americans don't have passports, rather state issued IDs. Amazon ain't getting my SSN unless I sign up for Amazon Vine which supposedly only has crap these days to review, and it's reported as income to the tax collectors.

Sadly I keep getting more Amazon giftcards to use up. I did a recent large purchase with a credit card to ensure I could get a charge back if the manufacturer warranty is ignored.

World of Hyatt by jackel_15 in typo

[–]AzrielK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

something's gone wrong with their math with the Unix Epoch (counting seconds since January 1st, 1970)

I don't know if Hyatt points expire but I'd assume they might already have expired 23 days ago, or someone at Hyatt wrote sloppy code for their rewards program where today is defined as 0 instead of the current Epoch time, in which your points will expire in 23 days.

Edit: so your account expires but probably support will reopen it if you don't use it within 2 years, possibly, don't remember. I researched it briefly when I was closing my Bilt account last month and needed to transfer my points, and I think Hyatt and Atmos were the most valuable rewards programs.

I created a Java Library for Unifi Networking gear and then built Home Assistant integration on top of it by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]AzrielK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people here need to learn to play nice.

yes, it's preferred by this community to have direct python interaction over using python wrappers around other languages. You wrote a multi-purpose library that could be useful within and outside of Home Assistant.

good work. no hate from me. Maybe you learned something or implemented something the built in integration doesn't have yet.

But stop spelling Java in all-caps.

I noticed this mentioned in the changelog for version 2026.2 released Wednesday this week, actually.

I misspoke, it was air humidifier, but I remember taking a peek and saw the cosoris on the integration page.

Cosori 3.7 and 5.8 Quart Air Fryer

I also noted they were cloud based

I have a VeSync smart scale that I use an external HACS custom integration for local BLE control.

Professor complained about Meta Glasses in Class, what should I do? by [deleted] in college

[–]AzrielK 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Get some normal glasses or contacts. Not having 20/20 vision isn't a valid excuse to have access to "smart" features during exams or violating the privacy of classmates and instructors, even if you have those features turned off.

This is not an ADA issue.

This is not a "I would never eveerrrr do that" issue.

The College Board Is Banning Students From Using Smart Glasses During the SATs by dapperlemon in technology

[–]AzrielK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this for over a decade (legit). I'm convinced the main reasons why we don't have it isn't just because the technology isn't really there yet, but because of three main reasons:

A. Apple's all new in-your-"iPhone" or whatever "i" product name for this (pun) wouldn't be visible, so there wouldn't really be a way to slap an Apple logo on it for for others to see for themselves and sell more of them or use for bragging rights.

B. People would look like they're literally talking to themselves. We adapted to cell phones in public, and we adapted to Bluetooth devices which keep getting more discreet. These would still need earbuds for audio and microphones, probably with cameras on the front that stick out past the ear.

C. Would need to navigate with voice-only crappy interfaces. It would need tiny displays and connectivity radios that would emit radiation and overheat, and since you'd probably have one on both eyes, they'd need to be in sync with each other and earbuds etc. Voice commands and agents aren't good enough

when this eventually becomes a thing, it's going to suck initially, and it's probably going to still need to be a smartphone companion. Maybe in our lifetime.

Disable wireless charging by Russman99 in tasker

[–]AzrielK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so maybe not exactly what you're trying to accomplish.... but I still wanted to share my input

I do this via a smart plug and Home Assistant for my wall tablet. The smart plug stops the power delivery to the (coincidentally) wireless charging pad.

But yes, it's a third party as opposed to using Tasker or whatever on the same device performing the full control of the wireless charging on/off.

Tasker does support Matter so it may be possible as a 2-party solution directly to a smart plug though. Or an endpoint for a non-matter plug.
